With an expansive, exciting repertoire, Rick Dean fuses great original pop music with a variety of classic covers - from mowtown/old-school to country-rock, jazz, contemporary, and much more. Audiences are entertained by a dazzling array of live instruments - including multi-keyboard, smooth vocals, guitar, trumpet, percussion, harmonica, recorder. Multi-tiered electronic sequencing brings a dynamic full-ensemble sound to Rick's fresh, rich arrangements.

Audiences are surprized at the full band sound and thrilled to see Rick Dean perform a variety of musical instruments. With a great mix of musical styles, there's something to please everyone. Fond memories are inspired as great songs of "the day" come alive. Rick delights listeners with an easy interaction, sometimes taking requests, and even having guests "sit in" with the act. Often heard comment: "You made my night."
Rick Dean has logged hundreds of performances as soloist, studio musician, guest artist/sit-in, headliner, and ensemble player throughout the West and beyond. As well, he has scored hundreds of arrangements for the studio, the U.S. Air Force band system, and various ensembles - from small rock, country, jazz and vocal groups to full wind orchestras.
He has appeared on TV (inc. Rick Dean Hosts a Tribute To ..."), radio, video and records; and at personal appearances with audiences ranging in number from 2 to 50,000, including President Ford, and the Governors of Arizona and Sonora, Mexico.
Venue highlights include: Sir Francis Drake, Disneyland, The Queen Mary, The London Bridge, The Stardust (Las Vegas), and Union Square.
Groups include: Sky's the Limit, Rick Dean and the Mainstream (members inc. Dick Clark's musical director, Bammie winner/formerly w/ Tower of Power, etc.), Take-Off, Sneak Review, Spice, Johnny Vaughn Orchestras, many jazz/pop/funk/light/concert/original/other performance or recording ensembles.
Among favorite musical experience, Rick is most proud of his involvement in charitable enterprises, being "Mr. Music Man" to his daughter's elementary school, and his work as music director for The Sacramento Childrens Home. Rick is the proud son of Bob Sumners of The Axidentals (ABC Paramount Records)and father of the amazing Sacramento singer/songwriter, "Rindy".
Rick's act is wholly self-contained. A small area (~6'x8') is sufficient for performance/staging.
