I'm an artist, that chooses to be, and never to be anything else other then what is meant for me. My music, my performances, and my engagement with the people are authentic, genuine and uplifting in spirit. I can sing anything, by anyone, and make it creatively beautiful. If an audience came to see me, they'd see a part of themselves that they've been searching for.
They would see a boy who's great in confidence, charity, and authenticity in his emotions, because his confidence comes from his selflessness.
They would see a boy dancing among the people, and singing among them, with not a care in the world other than to be the best of himself in that very moment
They would see an artist, someone who lives music and breathes music, someone who reminds them of the greater things in life, which make life what it is.
They would see love, and pain. They would see excitement, and sorrow. They would see everything, and they will feel it, too. The music will speak to them, and it will move their hearts for the better.
By the end of it all, they will see a star in the making, and they will be amazed by this boy's ability to own the stage and take what's rightfully his.
They will see, someone who dares to be great.
My friend, only then will they see Roman Star!
I grew up, loving the idea of becoming a singer, but never really stepping into those shoes. My friends and family all knew I had a gift, but they never tried to water that seed in me, and maybe it's because I never tried to water it myself. In school I was outcasted, and it made me focus on building myself externally, but it costed me internal growth too. It wasn't until highschool, when I began to use what that negative mindset had created out of me, to turn it into something good. So, I began to work on myself internally too. It was when I had first began Highschool, that I decided to audition for Americas Got Talent. Although I had received popularity at this point, I still had never felt like I was meant to fit in with the crowd. Something had called me to be different, to dare to be great, so I became more of a popular loner. When my Junior year began, I started to take my virtues in music more seriously, and I began to write music and train myself in dancing- I look back and smile at this, because I never thought I could dance. I absolutely admired Michael Jackson for his stage presence, and so I began to study his moves- along with other artists like James Brown and Chris Brown- and everyday in our school's dance room, I'd try and make them my own, to make the moves apart of me. By the time I was going to college, I had a few written songs under my belt, and I was experienced in dance. As soon as I entered college, I began to notice how people were so young in spirit, and so I started posting words of wisdom to the ASU community story. Not long after, I became a college icon, and so I started to receive a lot of hate as well. I had a lot of people that supported me, and I always forgave my haters because I knew they didn't understand what they were doing, so I took on the responsibility of being a role model for my generation. This is all significant, because it marks a stage of character development which made me into a true artist. In May, I moved out of college and back home, where I had to face a choice, a decision that would change the course of my life- would I leave to Texas to pursue sales, or would I rely on faith alone and become a true artist. One decision meant a successful business minded career, the other meant stepping into the shoes of the artist that dares to be great. One decision meant saving money for finances and music, the other meant stepping out to the streets, to the bars, to the events, with faith in who I am and what I am capable of doing in the hearts of others. I chose to walk in faith, and it made my family look down upon me. They couldn't understand how or why I was doing what I was doing, they couldn't see I was playing chess and not checkers. I ended up joining a ministry for a church choir, and I joined because I knew that by performing at church, I would learn how to truly sing from the heart, and to walk through life with the confidence of a champion. I began to get very close with God, and my whole idea and admiration for music began to change. I got so addicted to being a symbol of truth, of love and positivity, and I began writing music that spoke from the place of the holy spirit- I had figured out how to bring it's influence into different genres, to create and abide in the highest frequency of music, music that would remind people of where they came from, of what's truly important in this journey called life. So I began my journey, and I've been on a mission ever since. A mission to bring heaven's love and joy back down to earth, through my voice, my music, my wisdom, and through the life I live which is truly reflective of the message I wish to portray.
This is the legacy of Roman Star.
I will take any form of technical staging, as long as there is a stage in place, and the sound quality is loud enough to be heard and uninterrupted.
Listen, it's not about the stage, but the stage presence. I'm here to show what I can do, and I really don't need the glamour to be glamorous in the end; however, having it will make the performance that much more magical.
