Ryan Blakeman was born and raised in Youngstown, Ohio in a family full of singers and musicians, but didn't realise his full musical potential until he moved to Central New York. There, he taught himself to play piano to accompany the songs he had written and held on to for years.
After a few months of writing and finding his voice he started playing locally in Utica, NY where he eventually formed Sassafras Jenkins, a regionally successful progressive/Jam/folk-rock band that was fortunate enough to share the stage the likes of Rusted Root, New Riders of the Purple Sage, Maxine Nightingale, Marco Benevento, Kung Fu, members of Floodwood and many, many more.
Ryan eventually came back home to Youngstown, Ohio where you can catch him around town playing at local events as a solo artist, pleasing each and every crowd he steps out in front of with his original music and a wide variety of cover songs. Ryan is also available to play your studio project, wedding ceremony, or any other occasion that may need piano or keyboard accompaniment.
We look forward to hearing from you.
Cheers.
Sound requirements:
FOR A FULL SINGER/SONGWRITER PERFORMANCE: Ryan requires at least a 7x7 area and a minimum of two 3 pronged outlets to plug in his keyboard and small PA (suitable for most venues).
If the venue has an IN TUNE piano available, be sure to let us know, as this changes the equipment we need to bring.
REQUIREMENTS FOR INSTRUMENTAL PERFORMANCE:
Same as above unless a piano is available then no PA system should be required.
LIGHTING : Sufficient lighting, whether dramatic or basic room lighting is required. If there is something specific that you have in mind, be sure to tell us and we can work with you to make both parties happy.
Also, this IS NOT KARAOKE. If it is at all in your power, please keep people out of the performance area. Our equipment is not cheap.
