I write and perform engaging, vulnerable, pensive, honest songs that tend to draw the attention of the audience. Some of my songs will reliably silenced otherwise talkative rooms, and leave a memorable impression on listeners. I'm also available for doing entire sets of covers from the Folk/Country/Americana genres - let's have a conversation and see if I might be a good fit. :)

A focused, conscientious performance that is timely, warm, and engaging.
I'm a dedicated singer-songwriter from rural Massachusetts. I grew up in a family of back porch, front porch, kitchen, basement, and campfire musicians where nobody shied away from a good time. I've been around music my whole life, with a particular focus on the long lineage of acoustic songwriters that have come before me. I've been described as a very deep and compassionate person, though somewhat reserved. I treat music and songwriting as a spiritual practice at this point. I'm happy to perform sets of covers, originals, or a mix of the two depending on what you need. Please take a look at my website, or view more of my content and say hello on instagram @iamryancalkins. I'm looking forward to meeting you, don't be shy!
As an acoustic performer, I don't need much more than the basics so that I can be heard in the room. Lights, props, and the added elements of a stage performance are certainly nice to haves and can add to the engagement, but certainly not necessary from my perspective.
Just about anything you want in the folk/country/americana music genre. I can perform songs that would be tactful at a memorial service on one end of the spectrum, all the way up to faster-pace songs that can set a jovial mood for your social event or venue.
