SR 109 Band from Grays Harbor Washington
By Angelo Bruscas, editor/president North Beach Community TV
The SR 109 Band merges the rich and well-honed talents of singer/keyboard player Jetta Smith, singer/guitarist Johnny Nygaard, singer/bass player Tom Thompson and singer/drummer Steve Travis. The veteran blues and rock-based quartet has been building its audience across the North Beach this past year with live video performances in our small community television, as well as in the recording studio post-COVID.
The songs they have mastered span generations of timeless music from the Creedence-inspired “Suzy Q,” to the Eagles’ “I Can’t Tell You Why,” or Linda Ronstadt-infused “Blue Bayou,” to blues standards like, “Bring in on Home,” or new renditions of foot-stomping rockers such as “Pride and Joy.” Highlights are the soaring solos from Johnny’s Stratocaster and the soul-deep vocals by Jetta, backed by the solid rhythms driving the band in the hands of Steve and Tom, with harmonies by all.
They are a band that will have you dancing, singing, shouting for joy, and, most importantly, smiling with delight as you travel along the route with SR 109.
