I provide solo instrumental guitar music ranging from standards to recent hits to jazz and classical. Suitable for weddings, receptions, fine dining, corporate functions, gallery openings etc. I have performed for the World Equestrian Games, the Kentucky Governor's Mansion, the Ryder Cup Trophy Dinner, and most venues in between.
We hired Sam Hawkins to play for our Craft Beer Dinner at The Thoroughbred Club of America in Lexington, KY. Sam was a perfect fit for our venue. We booked him on very short notice, and he still showed up early to check all of his sound levels and review with me the music that he would be playing for us. His setlist was perfect, he played acoustic covers of many recognizable songs and played for almost all of the three hours that we hired him. I definitely recommend him, and look forward to hiring him for future events.

I heard Sam at an art gallery opening and recently a wedding reception. He plays a lovely classical guitar with music ranging from the Beatles, Wave, James Taylor, etc. If you want music for an event that you can still have conversation with great ambiance with a very talented musician, then I would highly recommend Sam.

Expect me to show up early. I utilize a small p.a. System with a microphone and stand. I will be dressed accordingly and I will conduct a few sound tests prior to start time. Expect unimposing yet familiar music.
I started learning guitar at age seven and have played professionally most of my life. I play a handmade classical guitar that offers a mellow harp like sound. The style I developed incorporates the bass line, melody, and accompaniment similar to a pianist sitting down and playing a song without vocals.
Since my guitar is a hand made one of a kind I will not perform in unprotected or uncovered outdoor venues. Extreme heat and humidity are additional concerns.
