We enjoy dancing and listening to the Savoy Big Band. Rich and vibrant sound greets you when you walk into the ballroom. Band members humorous banter between songs adds to the entertainment. Peggy adds soulful lyrics to many of the numbers. They make for a fun evening.

The Savoy Big Band is a professional 13-piece band based on the size of bands playing at the Savoy Ballroom in New York during the Swing Era, but playing a wide range of songs and styles including Swing, Jazz, Latin, and Blues. Our repertoire features original arrangements of songs made famous by Dionne Warwick, Henry Mancini, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Natalie Cole, Doc Severinsen, and others, and featuring the vocals of the Fabulous Peggy Coyle!
The Savoy Big Band was formed in 2011 and has been performing in the Akron Canton area ever since. The band has performed at the Akron Civic Theater, the Canton Palace Theater, at various festivals, and for the past several years has played a monthly Big Band Dinner Dance.
The band plays all original arrangements of the classic songs from the Great American Songbook as well as more contemporary compositions and styles.

We have obviously been influenced by the great big bands and jazz performers of the past, such as Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Billie Holiday, Sinatra, Peggy Lee, Sonny Rollins, Rosemary Clooney, but also by the great film composers like Henry Mancini and Jerry Goldsmith. We feature arrangements of several of Mancini's film scores from "Breakfast at Tiffany's" and "Charade" - fantastic songs that very few other bands perform live.
