Ruben played for a Candlelight Dinner event at our nursing home facility and it was a blast! We usually book guitarists and they play classics and oldies, but we wanted to switch it up and he was perfect! We have a lot of Hispanics residents and he played Cumbias and Latin music that was so fun and energetic, he had our patients grinning and clapping along, and even our nursing staff kept popping in from the hype of the music and would join for a dance. Ruben is very professional and punctual, very kind, and would definitely recommend him for a fun party and would book him again.

Ruben did an outstanding job with the saxophone. It completely transformed our event into something special. We had hired Ruben mainly for Bollywood themed songs, but he did play some popular western numbers as well. Ruben played continuously for more than 3 hours and our guests throughly enjoyed the experience. they danced for the most part and were wowed by how well the songs were played. In addition to newer Bollywood songs he also did play some of the old ones with equal care and it brought back memories. Hats off.

Ruben is a fabulous performer who really put his heart into his music. We were so impressed by his service for our wedding. He assisted with the sound system for the ceremony, learned several new songs for us, matched his dress for the wedding theme, and played as long as we’d let him (including extended play for the ceremony recessional, which was actually pretty funny as the officiant waited to excuse the guests from the ceremony lol). Ruben Cantu aka SaxMajor turned my event to a super fun party. He delivered his promise of entertaining my guests with his wide genre of his music from Bieber, Bruno Mars, Dua Lipa to Sergio Mendez and other oldies. My guest demographics ranges from 25 to 65 y/o and all went home thanking me for a very fun, entertaining night mainly because of the great music provided by Ruben (plus of course my wife’s great food). He was very easy to communicate with from booking to follow-up of my preferred songs to actual event. He was earlier than punctual. Also he was flexible when we requested him to squeeze our vocalist into the middle of his set. I got numerous inquiries during and after the party on who was my sax player and how they can avail of his services. His music was so much fun that my party ended with guests dancing even if I did not plan to have one. So happy I chose him. He was the best birthday present from my daughter. Working with Ruben was an absolute pleasure! We needed a last minute saxophonist, and he was able to be in touch with me within an hour and perform at our event the very same evening. His song list is extensive and pleased our young and older guests, as well as impress our Hispanic and Indian guests with some Juanes, Marc Anthony, and Bollywood songs sprinkled in between classic American and top 40 hits. Can't wait to work with him again!

I was preparing a surprise for my wife's birthday and Ruben made it just magical. He arrived in advance ti make sure everything's prepared before my wife came. Since we're not a lot into classic music i asked him to play some popular songs and he played Sia, Chainsmokers and Rihanna, it was simply amazing. He also had a speaker playing the music on the background. Though we were on a beach, the sound was heard really well. I definitely recommend Ruben for outdoor performances of this type or any other types events.

SaxMajor just preformed at my home for a Memorial Day Bar B Q. It was about 20 or so of us. The ages were 5 years of age, up to 73. SaxMajor played music to satisfy every age group. From Frozen, to Chuck Berry! Each age group crowd went WILD at the selection he played!! I also had Elsa there for the kids, he played Let it Go, while Elsa song... Everyone LOVED IT!!!

We really enjoyed him. He's professional. He's punctual, and stayed in contact with us throughout the process. We had a 50th wedding anniversary dinner for some friends. There was 2 special songs that we wanted him to perform. One of the songs he didn't have, but he went and secured the song and learned it well for the dinner. We enjoyed his performance. He brought 3 different styles of saxophones, and he used them all. He's prices were reasonable too. I wouldn't definitely hire him again. No complaints!

Ruben arrived on a hot sunny California day, prepared and ready to play not one but 3 saxophones. We really enjoyed the style and flavor of the music. I had requested contemporary songs and he offered them with out question. My guests were very happy and he brought the life needed to the party. Insurance: I will purchase liability insurance, if required, per each event.
SaxMajor will will arrive to your event at least one hour before performance time. He will customize a song list to your satisfaction and can add extra music on the spot. SaxMajor performs with pre-recorded backing tracks to accompany his performance. He will sound like a full-sized band. Expect about 16 musical selections per hour. SaxMajor can easily adjust volume control to the satisfaction of the audience and the venue. He will also arrive professionally dressed.
Performing extensively for community senior centers, private parties, and local restaurants, Ruben is comfortable performing for a variety of age and cultural groups. His musical repertoire includes a variety of musical styles from smooth jazz to recent contemporary music. For the past ten years, Ruben has been performing extensively for senior and baby boomer aged engagements.
Ruben Cantu has been performing professionally since he was 15 years old. Over the years, he has performed extensively throughout Southern California and Las Vegas in an array of diverse musical ensembles, including small ensembles, rock groups, swing bands, and symphony orchestras. Living in Las Vegas for many years, Ruben has performed extensively on the Las Vegas Strip, playing side by side with some of the world's best show musicians. Ruben received his B.M. degree in instrumental music from California State University, Long Beach and his M.M. degree in performance from California State University, Fullerton. Ruben is an early retired public school band director who enjoyed teaching others to play music. Many of his students continued to become professional musicians.
SaxMajor supplies his own sound equipment. Depending on the size of the audience, he can bring a small speaker suitable for a small group to a full set sound set up including a PA system with bass subwoofer for a larger dancing crowd. SaxMajor has sound equipment with a Line Out for access to a house PA sound system.
Because of laptop screen limitations outdoors, SaxMajor needs advanced notice if the event is indoors and outdoors. SaxMajor Does have an alternative laptop setup for outdoors.
