Sometimes an event needs romantic guitar music. Sometimes it needs upbeat flamenco guitar. I play a mix of classical,flamenco,jazz and pop acoustic instrumentals.

What a delight it was to hear and see the flamenco performance of Roger Scannura last Sunday at the Sugar Bush Winery in Prince Edward County.
Scannura, a traditional flamenco guitarist of exceptional ability played various tempos of truly Spanish music mixing in an occasional classical piece and numerous original compositions. Sitting surrounded by the vines of the winery Roger created a feel of Spain.
For those whose only experience of flamenco guitar is the stylings of Jesse Cook, Roger takes the listener to the heart of flamenco guitar with its ups and downs and then to the final crash of the last chord.
As an amateur guitarist of 50 years Scannura performance was truly inspiring.
It is always a pleasure to listen to Roger. His music transports you to a Latin romance. His repertoire is extensive and he knows how to enchant you with the sound of his guitar.

Roger shows up at least 30 min. early to set up. Setting up takes 10 min. Roger brings his own acoustic guitar amp which is a high quality way to fill a large room with warm sound yet takes very little space and is easy to move around to suit the need.
Roger only requires an armless chair and access to power.
Roger is able to change location in room quickly to suit,for example be in entrance during cocktails and move to hall during dinner.
The music is both soft to allow conversation or more dynamic to create excitement.
If a hardwood stage is available Roger can provide one or two flamenco dancers.

He was born on the history drenched island of Malta and was immersed in art ad music since an early age. Roger has recorded 7 CD’s of original flamenco music, encompassing both
traditional flamenco and modern styles. He has played in concerts and festivals worldwide and has received acclaim for his deeply soulful portrayal of flamenco guitar. Roger has been on the faculty of York University since 2003 and teaches flamenco guitar to hundreds of aspiring musicians each year.
