Show Summary for a Public Events:
Preshow:
- I will arrive atleast 45 – 60 minutes early and speak with a manager to see where I will be performing, find out if I can take request, see if I can sell merchandise and MOST importantly, I take note on how I can promote the venue throughout the show (new drinks, a special dish, merchandise, happy hour, etc.)
- After setting up all the equipment and doing a quick sound check, I visit each table, introduce myself, I thank them for coming and hand them a copy of my song list (if allowed) in case they have any song requests.
*
Set 1:
- After the first song I introduce myself and thank everyone for coming out
- At approx. 15 minutes in, I thank the staff and remind the patrons to take care of the bartenders/waitstaff etc. At this point I mention any promotions or specials as previously discussed
- During the first 30 minutes is typically a big rush of requests. I work those in as I see fit for the “vibe” and energy of the venue. It is not necessarily the order that I receive them in. This is the case throughout the night.
- At approx. the 30-minute mark I introduce myself again and talk about my merchandise (10 -20 seconds)
- At approx. 45-minute mark I thank my (noncompetitive) first sponsor (5-10 second)
- At the 60-minute mark I thank everyone for the requests so far and tell them how much fun I’m having. I let them know that I’ll be taking a quick break and remind them of the venue’s specials (if applicable)
- I take a 15-minute break and speak with as many patrons as I can, thank them for coming and ask if they are having any special events, birthdays, anniversaries, etc. Also, I complete any merchandise transactions.
*
Set 2:
- Before the first song I reintroduce myself, thank the people that are still there and welcome all the new people.
- After the first song I mention any one of the special events that I learned about and thank them for celebrating at the venue (if there is more than one special event, I mention those throughout the performance and not stack them all at once)
- At about 15 minutes in, I thank the staff and remind the patrons to take care of the bartenders/waitstaff etc. At this point I mention any promotions or specials as previously discussed
- At approx. the 30-minute mark I mention introduce myself again and thank my 2nd (noncompetitive) sponsor (5-10 seconds) and mention my merchandise (10-20 seconds)
- At the 45-minute mark I thank everyone for coming out tonight and for request so far and tell them how much fun I’m having. I let them know that I’ll be taking a quick break and remind them of the venue’s specials (if applicable)
- Much like the first break, I take a 15-minute break and speak with as many patrons as I can, complete any merchandise transactions, thank patrons for coming and ask if they are having any special events, birthdays, anniversaries, etc.
*
Set 3:
I let them know that this is my last song and remind them to take care of the staff
- The Final song is usually a fun sing along like “Take Me Home Country Roads”, “Sweet Caroline” or “Livin’ on a Prayer” something that leaves the audience feeling good.
- I tell everyone how much WE (the venue and I) appreciate them coming out and spending time with us. Thank them for requesting and tipping. I also mention when I will be returning to the venue.
*
Post Show:
- There is usually a 10 – 20 minute spent in conversation with various people (not always).
- I’m usually packed up and ready to go by 30 – 40 minutes after the show.
Shane Click was born in Rockingham Virginia in 1981. Having grown up with his mother a pianist and his grandfather an accomplished guitarist who performed on the Grand Ole Opry, his love of music grew tremendously. Throughout his life, Shane has always been fascinated by a variety of music and how the world is represented through the sounds of others. Naturally, he was drawn to stringed instruments, primarily the guitar. The interest was cultivated during his teenage years and further developed into adulthood through personal experience.
After playing in several local bands, Shane delved into his own solo acoustic performances. The songs that Shane sings during his performance, are only part of the narrative. He often uses his own personal experiences to bring those songs to life and express the story it is trying to tell. It is a collaboration between the artist and the heart. Shane cherishes this connection with music. He feels that the artistic exchange between the performer and the audience is a great experience.
I provide everything needed, all necessary equipment, lights and even a portable stage if requested.
