Shell Theory is an acoustic trio that focuses on vocals and fun. We play guitars, upright bass, mandolin, banjo, triangle, kazoo...and, of course, our voices. We play what brings us joy, from Americana to folk to country to rock/pop to we're not sure what. If it makes us laugh, cry, or dance, we'll do it.
What we don't play is too loud or in any way that will take away from your enjoyment.
We do small things and large things and everything in between. From house parties to receptions to clubs and restaurants to 50, 000-seat football stadiums (extra charges may apply), we're ready. Take a look and let us know if we can help you celebrate.

Shell theory came to entertain us & my guests at our 50th Wedding Anniversary at Point Breeze in Webster. They played all the tunes I requested and seemed to read the moments of the day and played softly when appropriate & upbeat when folks seemed to want to dance. How did they know? Everyone was impressed with them. I was touched when I noticed them talking to my 2 energetic grand toddlers and my children. It was a special day & was most sincerely enhanced by this wonderful group of three for sure !!

ShellTheory has a wonderful mix of songs: new, old, and original, that are replayed in the group's signature style. All the musicians are professionals and well-versed (along with an occasional visiting musician friend who may join in for a few songs). We do not do standard set lists but find many singing along because they recognize our selections.
Our focus is strong vocals. With that said we do pay attention to our audience. We are not a Dance Band. But if people are moving and having fun, we read that and keep it moving for a bit. If the room is peacefully listening, we will play into that and pull out some beautiful melodies.
We can entertain and we can waft melodies in the background.
ShellTheory enjoys each other and that is visible to our audience. We love people and they can feel that.
Strong communication to be sure we are a good fit is as important to us as it is to you.
All of ShellTheory have been in other bands. And still are but each wanted to do more vocal focused songs. That is what brought us together. That is one of the aspects keeping us together. We have known each other for ever. That helps with the fun we have performing together.
We have very few needs. a flat piece of ground, electricity and an interested Audience.
