Soul Shadows Jazz R&B for Dinner and Dancing

You took our entire Huntington Beach 4th of July crowd, grabbed them in the palms of your hands, and captured them like a kid catching fireflies in a jar... I watched the audience react to you, to your music, and I was overwhelmed. People were singing and dancing, clapping and cheering... The crowd got bigger and bigger and the excitement became contagious. There were times I almost expected to see a group dance by the audience. They were so caught up in your music, which, by the way, was THE perfect choice...! I KNOW I will see you again, and soon! You now hit my favorite band list (and everyone else's!).

The band set the perfect tone - energetic, fun and classy! You played all the songs we requested and just as importantly, didn't play any that we requested not be played. The flow of the evening went perfectly thanks to all the announcements being made seamlessly and right on schedule. Our dance floor was packed all night and we received so many compliments from our guests about how great the band was! Our friends and family are still talking about the band a month later!

They played the right music during dinner, so people were able to chat and others were able to get up to dance between courses. They encouraged people to dance and added to the fun of the evening.

Soul Shadows covers music from the 1940s to today, including Alicia Keys, Aretha Franklin, B-52’s, Bruno Mars, Bob Seger, Duffy, Earth Wind & Fire, Frank Sinatra, James Brown, Jennifer Lopez, Jimmy Buffet, Kool & the Gang, Lady Gaga, Louis Prima, Madonna, Maroon 5, Michael Buble, Michael Jackson, Nora Jones, Outkast, Rolling Stones, Sam & Dave, Santana, Stevie Wonder, Tina Turner, Van Morrison, Wilson Pickett, and many more!

The full band consists of a male and female vocalist, trumpet, saxophone, guitar, keyboards, bass and drums, but we can adjust our size to meet your needs. Each musician has a substantial resume that includes performances at such venues as The Greek Theater, Starlight Bowl, Coach House, Galaxy and House of Blues, along with numerous hotels, clubs and community fairs across the country. We take pride in performing your favorite music the way you remember it, without watering down the arrangements.

David comes from an event background, working with hundreds of companies at top resorts like the Montage Resorts and The Resort at Pelican Hill, so he knows what it takes to achieve a seamless event with flawless execution. Even though we have over 12 years of proven experience, we treat each event as if it is our first and most important. Our clients see that we are having fun each time we perform, and that enjoyment carries over to our audience. Chip and I were thrilled when we learned you were available to play at our wedding in June. We first found you at the Taste of Brea where you were playing outside and we had a lot of fun dancing to your wonderful music.

It's rare to find such a talented group that plays together so well and sounds like the original artist on every song. When you played at our wedding, all our guests commented that they couldn't believe how good you were and wondered how we got such a great band to play at our wedding! Your music really made our reception! Everyone enjoyed it, even those people who just sat and listened and the crowning moment was when Andy got down on one knee and sang to my mother. She was so thrilled! She is 82 and no one has ever sung to her before. It is an experience she will never forget! Chip and I had a blast dancing at our wedding and we will never forget how special you made our wedding day! It really made a very special evening for us and we will always remember it! Thank you for performing at the NRC dinner at Palm Springs in January. I can honestly say everyone that I talked to had a fantastic evening. I can attest that more people hit the dance floor with your group than any since I have been involved with our organization and that is fourteen years. I don’t know what you charged for the extra time that night, but I know it was worth every dime to our guests and participating members. I saved a bundle personally due to the fact the Chairman historically hosts a party in his suite after the program and dance. By the time you were done with us, no one could party any more.

The Knot Message Board

We provide basic stage lighting if necessary at no extra cost. We like to have a stage size of 12 x 16 or larger, but can work with smaller spaces. We typically arrive at least 2 hours (no charge) before our performance time to set up and sound check. We are not excessively loud, so we can work with a standard 20amp circuit dedicated to the band. We base our rates on the time we are at the event, beginning when we are expected to be ready to play. We require a 25% deposit along with our contract to secure your date on our calendar. We do not accept credit cards at this time.
