Spencer Sussman is a trombonist, composer, arranger, and educator from the San Francisco Bay Area.
He holds a masters degree in jazz studies at San Jose State University, studying under the expertise of Scott Whitfield, Thomas Hornig, and Aaron Lington. He has performed with Jon Faddis, Jamie Davis, Clairdee, Fred Berry, Caloncho, and the Glenn Miller Orchestra. Spencer has also toured internationally and performed at the Montreux Jazz Festival, Jazz à Vienne, and throughout New Zealand. Spencer currently lives in the East Bay Area where he performs, composes, arranges, and teaches music.
I hired Spencer in September 2022 to play at my son's memorial celebration. My son played the trombone and I wanted to pay tribute to him and his love of music. I also hired a saxophone player for the memorial. Spencer arrived early, was very professional, had a pleasant attitude and wonderful smile. He was also flexible to my request of songs and also offered me suggestions of songs. Spencer was also open to my request for him and the saxophone player to perform a couple of songs together although the two of them had never met or played together until the event. They took the lead and communicated together and worked things out. They were fabulous! Everyone enjoyed them both and I would highly recommend Spencer to others. If you hire Spencer for your event, you will not be disappointed. Thank you again Spencer for helping me celebrate my son in a fashion he would have loved!

I have been to a number of this man's performances and local shows in the Los Angeles area--I have been impressed each time. His shows are always enjoyable and he is a pleasure to watch. Moreso, he is always friendly and available to greet his audience after his shows.
We heard this musician play at a local event and were amazed by his warm and full sound. He is very approachable and we talked with him to arrange a gig. He is accommodating and congenial. He is as easy to work with as his wonderful sound.
