Steely Dane

Winner of the 2015 MAMA award for best cover band, Steely Dane is dedicated to not only faithfully reproducing the Steely Dan and Donald Fagen songbook, but to bringing an energetic live-show experience to the crowd. 20 of Dane County’s best jazz and rock musicians have banded together around their passion for Steely Dan music, playing in the same configuration as the Steely Dan touring band including a four piece horn section and three background singers. Shows consist of hits and deep cuts and sometimes even complete albums and are sure to have you out of your seats singing along.

Our shows generally consist of 2 sets of music and about 23 songs. We have nearly 50 Steely Dan and Donal Fagan songs in our repertoire and we can configure them in many ways. We generally do a mixture of hits and deep cuts and can also do several "entire album" sets.

The band is best suited for large-stage venues and works particularly well for festival type events. There are typically 16 musician on stage at a time. We rotate several lead vocalists to cover the material.

Between them they have dozens of albums, national and world tours, and even a few Grammy nominations.
