The golden era of Hollywood and jazz are alive in Stephanie Sellars. Her voice and presence recall the sultry female singers of the 1930s and 40s who fronted big bands in old black and white movies or leaned against a piano in smoky cocktail lounges. Whether you’re looking for a full band to inspire dancing or a voice and piano duo for more intimate events, Stephanie offers classy musical entertainment that will take you back to a bygone era.
My father was a lover of Nina Simone, Édith Piaf, and Leonard Cohen. Stephanie provided a live musical concert during my dad’s outdoor funeral service. After 16 months of COVID, her soulful voice was an emotional balm that fit the mood. I recommend Stephanie for your next event.

Vintage jazz and cabaret singing in the style of Julie London, Peggy Lee, and Ella Fitzgerald. A varied repertoire of jazz standards (Cole Porter, Gershwin, Harburg & Arlen and others), Bossa Nova (Jobim), French cabaret (Edith Piaf), and some pop (Beatles to Lady Gaga). Top NYC musicians (piano, bass, drums, horns). Dazzling costumes from sparkly dresses to a vintage tuxedo and top hat, whatever suits the event. Stephanie is also a great dancer who will inspire people to move!
Stephanie has been musical from an early age, starting with piano lessons, then playing the clarinet and alto saxophone for many years. She sang in choirs and musicals and began formal vocal training in her late teens. After moving to New York in 1998, Stephanie started exploring the jazz and cabaret scene. She produced and performed her own show titled "Naughty Baby" and studied with jazz vocalist Mark Murphy. In recent years she has been working with Jonathan Hart Makwaia of the renowned Roy Hart Theatre in France. Her voice ranges from smoky jazz lows to operatic highs, with a style reminiscent of a 1930s torch singer. Stephanie has performed in NYC clubs such as The Triad, Laurie Beechman Theater, and The Duplex, as well as The Kitano and Roxy Hotel as a guest vocalist with Tony Middleton's band. She was also a featured vocalist at the NonStop Festival in Moss, Norway. Of her debut album Girl Who Loves, "Sellars has a sultry voice that sets the bar higher in terms of feel and dynamics, and she knows how to make the most out of her remarkable talent." ((link hidden)) She is also a writer and filmmaker! She co-wrote the song Girl Who Loves for her feature film Lust Life Love which will be premiering sometime in 2020.
