I hired Stephen to play during the cocktail hour. I could not even tell you all the family and friends that mentioned how amazing he was. I did not get to meet with him much as the time he was there the photographer had me all over the place. But he did his job just like we expected and all our family and friends enjoyed the great atmosphere he set up with his beautiful music. We hired Stephen to play guitar at our wedding. He was there early, all set up before we ever got there - not to mention it was raining and in the 30's. This sweet weathered the weather and played beautifully (even learned Christina Perri's A Thousand Years for me). I barely got to meet Stephen from the chaos of the day and the weather, but we would hire Stephen again for his ultimate professionalism. Thank you, Stephen. Price Range: $100 and up
Beginning at age nine, Stephen Selvey has nearly 20 years of playing experience. Over the years he has played in numerous groups ranging from rock, jazz, folk, and latin. Currently he is a member of the latin band, El Tule. While primarily a guitarist, he is also competent on keyboards, mandolin, and vocals. He studied music briefly at UNC-Greensboro and Radford University but found the academic world of music was not a good fit and choose to study History instead. He was still active playing in a variety of bands and ensembles in college. In 2007 he relocated to Austin and has been active in the local music scene in a couple groups. Notable gigs include opening for Gypsy Kings, Grupo Fantasma, the SXSW music festival, and the Viva Big Bend Festival. Prior moving to Texas, Stephen was an active member of the New River Valley, Virginia music scene and toured through Viginia, West Virginia, and Maryland with his band A Fine Line.
I provide my own sound system. It is good for small to medium size settings.
