We hired 3 members of "Straight Up" for our wedding day. Because, as the bride, I was busy socializing/talking with my guests, I couldn't truly appreciate the fine job they did musically, they were on time and blended in very well. We loved having StraightUP with us for our first tree lighting event.. They provided exactly what we were looking for and were very easy to work with from start to finish.
We will be having StraightUP at our winery again. The band members were all very professional, they arrived early and were ready to go by the scheduled time.
We originally wanted the band to play outside for all of the winery guests to enjoy, but the triple digit heat made us move it indoors in to our Member's club, which worked out great. The music added to the ambiance and the members enjoyed it.
The group was on time and provided great music for our brunch event. Everyone who attended was entertained and raved about the music. We highly recommend them and look forward to booking them again!

StraightUP was an absolute pleasure to work with and to have play at our wedding. They are extremely talented jazz musicians. They were perfectly punctual and had everyone smiling and nodding along. They managed to get 2 families that have never before danced at a wedding up out of their seats and dancing all around just with their musical charisma. I'd recommend StraightUP time after time. Glad they could be a part of our big day.
I booked Larry and StraightUP for my parents 50th anniversary as a surprise. The initial plan was to have the band play on their driveway with my parents sitting in the garage. Lo and behold the forecast changed two days before the event for rain and wind. Larry was very communicative throughout the process, even working with me on a preferred configuration for the band, and we switched the plan to have them play in the garage with my parents with enjoying from the driveway or just opening the door and listened from the house. The weather mostly cooperated and my parents and their neighbors were able to enjoy the concert. I was not able to attend, but as my folks told me, everyone absolutely loved the music and it was perfect. The whole nieghborhood now knows of StraightUP and will be looking to book them for future opportunties.

StraightUp was a fantastic group for our Cincinnati-area event. They were extremely prompt with communication and feedback when planning the event, often times replying to emails within the hour. They were on time to the event and dressed professionally. Their performance was perfect for what we wanted; they provided uplifting and spirited background music to our cocktail style party. We hired their 4 part group but I understand we could get up to 5 musicians. Another huge plus was how reasonably priced they were. I would recommend StraightUp to anyone looking for a jazz band for a cocktail party, dinner party, or company event.

I host numerous client events. Before meeting Larry, of StraightUp, I had always worried about communication, quality of tune selection, and professionalism. Not any more. StraightUP is a collection of San Diego players that have spent much of their lives studying music as a general topic and their instrument as a specific one. We have lived in various regions of the country thus being exposed to various audiences and types of events. Events such as fundraisers, wedding rehearsal dinners, birthday parties, assisted living facilities, and corporate entertaining are the majority of our gigs. Jazz and 60's/70's R&B and Soul are what we offer. We are not a rock or pop band.
We have worked diligently to provide best practices for your entertainment by: dressing the part, being on time, and taking only short breaks to keep the vibe alive.

StraightUP provides all their own equipment and only requires a comfortable and space that holds at least 4 people. Electrical outlets need to be within 20 feet of the area that we play in.
We do not require food.
We do not take long breaks between sets.

Only operational AC outlets within 20 ft of the playing area. Also because of COVID we require that our exit and entrance is at least 20 ft away from any crowd. We wear masks when we are not playing. Period.
