Tanitra Flenaugh has played classical clarinet for nearly twenty years. She is available for hire in existing bands in any genre including rock, pop, Latin jazz, and hip hip. She is also available as a soloist with piano. Tanitra performs frequently in trios, quartets, and quintets with mixed instrumentation and genres. Tanitra is punctual, professional, and fun to work with.

The audience will experience a whirlwind of sensations ranging from soothing and refreshing to invigorating and revitalizing. Tanitra’s musicianship overflows with drama; you can expect anything from jazzy harmonies and riffs to melodic sequences that lull you into a relaxing trance.
Tanitra obtained her bachelor’s degree in clarinet performance. Her master’s degree is in music performance and pedagogy. She is currently a UCLA doctoral candidate in clarinet performance and pedagogy. Gary Gray is her main teacher and she receives regular coachings from prominent pianists Dr. Jennifer Snow and Gloria Cheng. She performs extensively as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestra member in California and booked shows all over the country. Tanitra appears regularly with the Southeast Symphony Orchestra. In addition to performing, Tanitra has an extensive and diverse teaching background.

I am accustomed to playing with piano other specifications can be flexible.
Although I have extensive experience with traditional repertoire by composers like Brahms, and Beethoven, I am heavily influenced by groups like Imani Winds that perform more culturally diverse repertoire especially by Latino composers. Tango is one of my favorite genres to play!
