With 18 years of experience, Teaona specializes in Hula, Tahitian dance, belly dance, and some Middle Eastern and North African folk dances. For hula shows, there are usually handheld musical instruments used during the performance. For belly dance, several props may be used, including a veil, fans, Isis wings, candle tray, sword, and cane.
Teaona has experience performing at a range of events and venues--including birthday parties, restaurants, outdoor festivals, schools, and even fashion shows--and for both children and adults.
Teaona is based in Fort Worth, TX, but serves the broader DFW area.

Teaona arrived on time, set up the music and changed into her hula outfit. She had traditional gourd drum and red feathered Uli Uli shakers. She taught the audience the hand movements and dance movements. We even played limbo. What a fun day. She was so friendly and professional.

Teaona was incredibly sweet and extended her services to make a special appearance as Moana for my sons “Maui” themed birthday. Teaona is a wonderful performer. It meant a great deal to me that she was able to engage my 10 year old and his friends in a Hawaiian dance lesson. He is shy about dancing and had lots of fun with his new found confidence in dancing.

Expect a dazzling, fun, professional, and family-friendly dance performance that is sure to get your guests up and dancing by the end. Audience participation is typically part of the show--Teaona will teach a few movements if needed, or simply invite some guests to join in the dancing! Performances are typically in the range of 15-30 minutes, and can be adjusted according to your needs.
Hula shows are usually a mix of Hawaiian and Tahitian dance, a lot like you would see at a resort luau in Hawai'i. Props will be used for hula and belly dance shows, adding to the experience. For hula, implements are typically a form of musical accompaniment, and they may include an 'ipu (gourd drum), 'uli'uli (gourd rattles), and/or pu'ili (bamboo sticks).
Polynesian Dance
Polynesian dance—which includes Hawaiian, Tahitian, Maori, Samoan dance, and many others—is very culturally rich and requires in-depth knowledge. Each of these cultures is quite unique, even while they share similarities with each other. The dances are no exception to this, and it takes a great deal of dedication to understand the differences and the cultural context of each dance. Teaona has studied Hawaiian and Tahitian dance since 2005, and she continues to learn more today. She has kept up with workshops from Tahia Cambet, Hinatea Colombani, Matatini Mou, Poerani Germain, and Heimaire Amaru, to name a few.
Middle Eastern/North African Dance
Middle Eastern and North African dance (also known as belly dance or, more properly, Raqs Sharqi) was Teaona’s first love. From the first class she ever took as a curious kid in 2005, she knew she had found something special. Teaona’s first exposure to dance was through Amira Dance Productions (located in Kansas), where she learned belly dance, hula, and Indian dance. From there, she went on to study belly dance for a few years with Sevdiah of Florida. She was also most recently a student of Vanessa of Cairo. Teaona has kept up to speed over the years with numerous workshops offered by such phenomenal dancers and teachers as Madame Raqia Hassan, Aziza of Cairo, Nada El Masriya, Ahmed Hussien, Lubna Emam, Faten Salama, Tito Seif, and Simon of Lebanon.
Besides cabaret-style belly dance, Teaona also specializes in Middle Eastern and North African folkloric dances. Those include Lebanese Dabke, Egyptian Saidi, and many more. Teaona is truly a multi-faceted artist. Extensively trained in Raqs Sharqi, she has also extensively studied Tahitian dance and Hawaiian hula. She makes sure to study each style and its cultural background in depth on a continuous basis, ensuring that her performances will be as authentic as can be.
If a sound system is not provided, please communicate clearly in advance to indicate that so Teaona can bring one. Please indicate the format of music that should be used (mp3 player, CD, or other).
The stage or area where the dancing will take place must be cleared of any obstructions, including wires and other equipment. The floor must be free of any sharp or hazardous objects, such as glass or splinters, or any spills.
There must be a private, safe place provided for the dancer to serve as a dressing room and place to leave belongings, and it should be available at least 15 minutes before the performance and for at least 15 minutes after.
Teaona may bring an assistant to help with props, costuming, parking, sound, etc. as well as to provide added safety. The assistant is no additional cost to you, and will be in the background.
