Mixing a unique brand of musical chemistry, that includes a blend of R&B, Hip-Hop and other various styles of music, Teflon Beats & Lawyer Mike have exploded onto the music scene. Teflon Beats, around since the early 90’s, has made contributions to the industry that has led to such projects as Hourglass, Blackvibe, Mr. Mike, Knology, etc…
It was in 2007, when “Dean-O” McDowell met his future musical partner “Lawyer Mike”. “Lawyer Mike”, better known in the legal profession by his given name of Michael S. Shipwash, has been a practicing Attorney since 1998. Lawyer Mike practiced defense work for many years defending such corporate giants as McDonalds, Lowe’s Home Centers and UPS, before deciding to “work on the other side”. Now, Lawyer Mike sues those corporate entities on behalf of individuals. This move, is was led to the musical relationship between Teflon Beats & Lawyer Mike.
Teflon Beats has collaborated with underground artists such as Kingpin Skinny Pimp and T-Roc (former member of 3-6 Mafia’s Prophet Posse). Teflon Beats has recorded tracks with Czar Ent in New York City; and has performed in various musical venues in Atlanta, as well as, various other venues from the East to the West Coast. Using Lawyer Mike’s contacts, both began working with such notable artists as Parlae (Dem Franchize Boyz), as well as, Ant Mo and Johnny “Juice” Rosado (Public Enemy). Teflon Beats, in its own right, comes from a family of musical talent and most recently, Dean-O worked with his uncle, Winston Delandro (Bob Marley) to create a “rock-rap” joint.
Teflon Beats & Lawyer Mike offer something that has never been seen in the musical genre. Lawyer Mike, with his crisp and clean vocals; and Teflon Beats with it’s street-wise and “drop dead” beats, offer a range of music to suit any musical enthusiast. From hits such as “I believe” to “Bring ‘em Home”, Teflon Beats & Lawyer Mike reach all fans of music; whether it’s a gospel flavor to songs that make one proud to be an American.
The style and texture of their music, as well as, the years of “dues” that both have paid, create a sense of a “reciprocal entitlement” from both, musical peers to fans across the globe. The upcoming “Mix-Tape or Album: You Decide?” by Teflon Beats & Lawyer Mike will be dropping in January, 2010, and is sure to cross musical, country and world-wide boundaries.
