The Classic Harpist

I provide elegant music for weddings, parties, corporate events, and other occasions. The music of the harp appeals to all ages, and I have a wide variety of music that I can play, ranging from classical to jazz.

Devon was raised in Jacksonville, Illinois, and her musical training began at a young age with piano lessons. She began harp study during high school (at the age of 15) with Alice Spero Keene at the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana. Her subsequent teachers have included Beatriz Martin-Ruiz, Suzann Davids, and Dr. Erin Ponto.

She has performed with the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra as a featured soloist, and with the Illinois Symphony Orchestra, Bradley University Chorale (including on a European tour), Valparaiso Symphony Orchestra, Opera Illinois, Valparaiso University Chorale, and the Bradley University New Music Ensemble. She is a member of the American Harp Society, the World Harp Congress, and the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA).

After attending Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois, Devon transferred to Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Indiana. She graduated from Valparaiso magna cum laude in 2001 with a BA in Music and in 2005 with MA in Liberal Studies (History Concentration).

In October of 2009 and January of 2012, she was invited to present a solo recital in the Jacksonville Public Library in Jacksonville, Illinois. In 2010, Devon attended the American Harp Society National Conference in Tacoma, Washington.

From (phone number hidden)6, she lived in and performed throughout India and Nigeria, playing Bollywood and Western music for events with thousands of guests. While in Lagos, she performed with the Music Society of Nigeria for the world premiere of the New Horizons African Ballet.

Devon is an active freelance performer & wedding harpist, providing harp music for numerous wedding ceremonies, receptions, corporate functions, funerals, and other events throughout the Midwest and internationally.

Her teaching studio includes harp & piano students of all ages and levels, and she was the founder and director of the South Bend Harp Ensemble. She is also the owner of The Music Factory, an early childhood music school providing instruction in the Musikgarten curriculum for children from birth through age 10.
