The Expectations, A-Cappella Doo Wop Quartet performing classic doo wop songs, that originated from both the East Coast and the West Coast, covering only the 1950's to the early 1960's. We perform with no instrumental accompaniment, but blend our voices with 3-4 part harmony (so typical of Doo Wop music from the era.) We will illuminate any event with our fun banter, smooth sounds, and attention to your occasion.
This group is a real treat to watch and listen to. I've been a doo wop fan for years, and these four guys are the REAL THING! The feel for the music is genuine and the harmanies are tight, solid and full sounding. They're also really nice people, as well, very down to Earth.
Price Range: $400 and up
Gig Length: 50 - 120 minutes
The Expectations can perform indoors or outside. They will almost always use microphones and a sound system. Since they are an A Cappella group, they do not need any accompaniment. Their minimum performance is 40-45 minutes. And their minimum fee for that is $400. Check out their SET LIST of songs they perform. They can be ambient sound or they can be a performance for your event. If the event centers around an anniversary, a birthday, a retirement, or any specific event where a special person (or a couple) is being celebrated, The Expectations welcome any information about them so that they might make the performance a little more engaging and personal.
One of our members of The Expectations, Marv Rosenberg, is the writer of the 1960 Gold Record "Image of a Girls" performed by him and his group, The Safaris. You will find Marv Rosenberg in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as the writer of "Image of a Girl." When introducing a song on stage, he sometimes shares short tidbits about being on tour in the early 60's. The 4 men are good friends who for over 3 years have gotten together every Saturday afternoon to rehearse but also to simply sing the songs they love from their youth. All 4 of them are from Brooklyn where much of doo wop music originated. They sing this music with affection and respect for the genre. Left to right in their profile photo are: Mark Berlant, Allen Levy, Marv Rosenberg, and Harvey Rubin.
The Expectation's SET LIST includes songs like: Barbara Ann, Diamonds and Pearls, Duke of Earl, Hush-a-bye, I Only Have Eyes for You, I'm So Happy, Little Girl of Mine, Sorry (I Ran All the Way Home), Speedo, Story Untold, Teenager in Love, This Is My Love, Tonight Could Be the Night, Walking Along, We Belong Together.
We provide our own equipment.
