The Gate City Jazz Trio is a professional jazz trio based in Greensboro, NC that provides top-level jazz in a performance or background role for parties, celebrations, small and large events, holiday events, corporate events, etc. The Trio welcomes gigs locally, regionally, and nationally.
Members of the Trio have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in music, with two holding a Master’s Degree in Jazz Studies. All members are educators, two at the college level.
I work with and book this group on a regular basis. My clients have very high expectations of music and professionalism and Gate City Jazz Trio exceeds those expectations every time. I can highly recommend them.

The GCJT provides music for events between one and four hours in length, performing jazz standards, holiday standards, Latin jazz standards, swing standards, funk and fusion standards and modern jazz. The Trio is also available for holiday events.
The Gate City Jazz Trio is a professional jazz ensemble based in Greensboro, NC, comprised of Matt Reid on piano, Evan Campfield on bass, and Chrishawn Darby on drums. The GCJT is a staple in the North Carolina jazz scene, most recently as the resident musicians at The Quarter and Chandler’s in Greensboro. The GCJT performs regularly in the locally and regionally in many different venues and settings, offering straight-ahead and Latin jazz favorites from the 1920s to current.
Each member of the GCJT holds, at minimum, a bachelor's degree in a music-related field, and all currently serve as music educators in private, public and/or university settings. Each member has extensive knowledge of the jazz idiom and jazz performance, and provides professional musical entertainment for all types of venues.
We kindly ask clients to ensure access to the venue is available an hour prior to start of performance. Close parking is requested, however, we understand this may be unavailable in some venues.
The GCJT performs repertoire from the Great American Songbook, many selections from the Swing and Bebop eras through today, Latin jazz favorites, and fusion and funk tunes.
