The Mixed Nuts, a six-piece combo specializing in the music of the Big Band era, came onto the scene in the Wasatch Front in the fall of 2009. They have played over 3000 shows including parties, dances, weddings, and other entertainment venues. Not just another Salt Lake City wedding band, The Mixed Nuts band allows you to select from a list of over 1400 well known songs to be enjoyed by young and old. Their repertoire includes Swing, Big Band, Jazz, Country, and Rock.
Our dynamic six-piece band will make your reception a great time for all, and a party to remember… “Nothing Compares to Live Music!” – And you’ll see why with all the smiles on your crowded dance floor.
They are so talented, they came and played at my work. They were absolutely amazing and everyone listening had smiles across their faces. Definitely a great band to hire.
Response from The Mixed Nuts:
Thanks Natalie.

Our audiences expect and get great music from a wide range of genres (or a specific type if requested). We are professionals and do everything we can to please the client. We can play very quiet for ambiance, or we can get down and light up the dance floor with plenty of boogie if that is what is wanted.
We have a huge song book and allow our clients to select the songs they want, or we can suggest songs that have worked well for the many engagements we have played. If a client has a specific song or two for a special occasion that is not already in our set lists, we can arrange and learn the songs requested, given a few weeks notice.
We dress nice and do our best to be respectful of everyone. We try our best to pay attention to the details requested by our clients.
The MIXED NUTS appeared on the music scene rather inauspiciously in March 2009 at a “Spring Fling” sponsored by an LDS Ward in South Jordan. Since that quiet beginning, this five-member ensemble has exploded into prominence, endearing itself to countless residents of senior centers and retirement facilities across the Salt Lake Valley. Playing the music of the big band era, they reignite in the minds of those who lived at that time great memories of Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey, and countless other entertainers of that era. Today, they are one of the busiest bands in the valley, averaging 7 engagements per week and receiving accolades whenever they perform. Asked about their amazing success, Bob Nohavec, the leader of the ensemble, replied, “It’s pretty simple. We play what people want to hear, and we play it well. And in the process, they have fun and we have fun! That’s the most important part - we all have fun! What could be better than that?” Indeed, what could be better than that?
We bring our own sound system, so our only real requirement is a power source.
For outdoor gigs, we prefer to not be on the lawn or dirt without some sort of flooring or covering and shade.
We do not provide our own lighting, so you may want to consider how you would like the band to be seen. We play from music on iPads, so we need very little lighting.
