By hiring us, The Muse Mints, you can expect the band to play requested genres or specific eras of music. For example, if you want 80's music, that is what you get! If you want country, ye-haw! We can also mix genres and eras to give the client the ultimate playlist. Our songs include top 40s, popular songs from all decades, and a variety of genres. We are flexible, so the client can expect to hear whatever they specify.
The band consists of male and female vocals, guitar, keyboard, bass, and drums. We have the ability to bring our own sound system necessary for the situation. We can play dynamically to fit the venue or room we are playing. We can play softly if it's an intimate setting, or rock out nice and loud if our setup is on a large stage.
Depending on the situation, our drums can be acoustic or electronic. Acoustic drums adds its own romantic flavor to the music and is great for songs meant to have a wide dynamic range, like jazz, funk, ballads, and even top 40s. Electronic drums still sound authentic and can achieve similar dynamic goals but are great for dance sets with high energy. The beauty of electronic drums, is we can plug them directly into the speakers and have that high energy sound able to turn up/down with a simple volume knob. This setup allows us to be like a live band inside a speaker in your living room.
We can easily act as a basic DJ and play different playlists through the sound system if the band is taking a break, or the client has requested a song to be played for special dances, cake cuttings, bouquet/garder tosses, entrances, etc. We can fade in and out of these if given the playlist by the client. Given proper notice, the band can even perform these special requests live.
The Muse Mints consists of professional musicians with a heavy background of performing and gigging. The band formed when the drummer was asked to put a band together for a friend's wedding. He "cherry-picked" the best and most reliable musicians he had played with in order to put together a band that could handle a cocktail set and 3 dance sets (just under 4 hours of music). Each musician in the band teaches music lessons on their instrument and performs in other groups, too. Everybody brings their experience to The Muse Mints, which allows the band to perform popular/fun songs with top notch quality.
The Muse Mints usually brings their own sound system appropriate for the event. This includes our own multichannel mixer, subwoofers, main speakers, monitors, and instruments. If the event has these things already setup, then we are more than happy to use them and the client can pay the band less. We can provide basic stage lighting if needed.
What we do need from the client or venue are power outlets close by to the performance area. If the event is outside, we will have to confirm there are enough outlets close enough to be reached with an extension cord.
