The Smokin Rockets “Blending the very best of early guitar driven rock with contemporary tones" Along with Johnny Lemmon, his music mates include Larry Rhoads (drums) & Joe Venti (bass) to capture the early days of guitar rock bands with an electric mix of Pop - Surf & Rockabilly driving beats that will surely move your feet. Founding member, Johnny Lemmon (guitar/vocals) has been performing internationally in the pop music scene for more then 25 years with the Merseybeat Beatles Tribute Band which has graced the stage to audiences worldwide. Joe Ventie has played with rock Icons like Leslie West & Corky Laing and many others. Both of these stage veterens remind us that Atomic age Rock & Roll was a great influence in “The Beatles” early sound, as well as all the great music that followed. Inspired by the likes of Buddy Holly, The Ventures, Eddie Cochran, Carl Perkins, Gene Vincent & many others, The Somkin Rockets were formed. The Smokin Rockets will take you on a rock journey of the very best guitar bands of the atomic age. The Rockets re-captures all the tonal energy long replaced by computers and digital technology. Listen to the magic as The Smokin Rockets take this era to new heights when they add their energetic pure atomic tone with cutting edge musicianship. Biography
As you know, Long Island gave birth to so much music talent notably Billy Joel, & multi-platinum band The Stray Cats found their home in Massapequa. With the desire to showcase the music that has been a part of mainstream radio & audiences of all ages around the world, now comes Long Island's new "Atomic Rock Band"...The Smokin Rockets.
