The only category they have for Motown is "Motown Group". While I am not a group, I am a Motown performer, complete with choreography. Keeping the great music of the Temptations, Four Tops, Marvin Gaye and other great Motown acts alive. I am a one may Motown revue. I also sing oldies from the 50's, 60's and some 70's.
Charles Lee did a fantastic job at my husband's MOTOWN birthday party. Everyone enjoyed his performance...
Very professional and quite entertaining!!
Charles Lee was great! We will be booking him again. Thank you for giving our customers a great night!

Gig Length: 60 - 240 minutes
I am a very compact self contained act. I can provide my own sound system. The system does not require a lot of room and I can fit in relatively small spaces. For those of you who are aware of sound systems I have a Fender Passport Pro500. It is suitable for large halls and can be tuned down for smaller venues. It is perfect for small and large restaurants. It will fit in a backyard, living room, or work on a professional stage. All that is needed for my show travels with me. All I need is an outlet and a small table, about the size of a card table or banquet table.
My set up time is minimal due to how compact my equipment is. It only takes me approximately 15 minutes depending on now long it takes to get the equipment to the staging area. All of my music is on a IPOD so there is no space required for CD's or instruments.
You can expect to see me in a Motown like costume. Always in sharply creased pants and pressed shirt. Flashy colors or black are my style, just as the old Motown artists themselves once dressed. You can expect to see me perform many of the Motown classics as well as oldies from acts like Sam Cooke, Lou Rawles, The Four Seasons, The Spinners, and many more. Also included in my act are standards from such greats as Nat King Cole, Johnny Mathis, Frank Sinatra, and more.
You can also expect to see some of the moves that made the Motown artists stand out. I have the voice, the look, the music, and the moves. This is the complete package. Well worth you hard earned dollars.
Charles grew up in Detroit (“The Motor City”) as a teenager during the fifties and sixties and his first and foremost love has always been music. He loves to talk about the many musical influences in his life, the greatest of which has been the Motown sound. Charles says, “I would put on some Smokey Robinson or the Temptations and sing along with their records. That is essentially how I learned to sing.” The two vocal groups who were most influential in his formative years were the “Temptations” and “The Drifters”…and as if it were a “dream come true”, Charles has had the opportunity recently to perform on stage with both of these well-known national and international groups.
Charles performs at various types of venues. He has performed for nightclubs, country clubs, weddings, receptions, open houses, coffeehouses, city festivals, county fairs, private parties, colleges and reunions. He has also performed for community benefits and fund-raisers, retirement facilities, public concerts, dances and dinner cruise lines. Charles has appeared on various television and radio shows, both as a guest and as a host.
Charles is an accomplished vocalist whose diverse talents and multi-octave vocal range please listeners of any age. His song list includes Broadway tunes, urban blues, classic love songs, the snappy sound of rhythm and blues, and the truly one of a kind sound of Motown.
Charles has performed on stage with several nationally and internationally known recording artists, including Jeff Kimpland (formerly with “Journey”), “The Temptations”, and Charlie Thomas, of Charlie Thomas’ “The Drifters”. With a vocal range that can only be described as phenomenal, Charles Lee appeals to a diverse audience of ages, cultures and genders. His performance also includes bits of trivia that helps the audience understand the origin of urban blues and the influence of the Motown sound on America’s musical history. Offering a variety of covers, as well as original compositions, Charles Lee’s repertoire includes the songs performed by some of the world’s greatest entertainers.
I am completely self contained as far as sound. I have a Fender 500Pro system. I have my own cordless microphone, and my music is on an IPOD. I am Mr. Plug and Play. As for lighting that is at the discretion of the Venue as I do not have lighting.
