The Sunset Grooves bring a cool summertime vibe to every show, injecting your favorite "soft rock" songs of the 70s and 80s with an energetic, vibrant and electric infusion of undeniable fun!
Expect the audience to want to dance and sing along to our unique and unforgettable song list.
However, if you are seeking more subdued entertainment - we can also cater our set to include more of the "mellow" hits of the era - performed at a lower volume suitable as background music for conversation and mingling.
Typical Sets
---------------
Our song list is filled with soft rock and booty-shaking hits from the 70s (see below for a sample list). We can perform up to 3x60 minute sets of music. A typical party might have 2 sets of music (with a 15-20 minute break in between). So when thinking about your event, consider how much live music you require.
The Show
----------------------
Even though we play soft rock hits of the 70s, we are quite a loud band. The Sunset Grooves are not a jazz trio playing softly in the corner. When we take the stage, expect the audience to react - we will engage them and hopefully get most everyone on the feet and shaking their groove thangs! Although we welcome audiences of all ages, the nature of this music can be a little on the risque side and sometimes contain overly romantic lyrics, and there could be some innuendos in our stage banter. If your event requires a more low-key music option, consider having a playlist for the first part of the evening - then maybe the band takes the stage at the later portion of the evening, after everyone has had a few cocktails and have completed their initial greetings and mingling.
The Sunset Grooves... bringing "Yacht Rock" favorites to Seattle!
Remember the smooth, soft rock sounds of the 70s? Those unforgettable fun songs by artists like Christopher Cross, Steely Dan, Little River Band, America and Hall & Oates?
Wikipedia claims yacht rock has elements of soul, jazz, R&B, funk, disco, and traits that include high-quality production, clean vocals, and a focus on light, catchy melodies. But what they don't mention is how much fun these songs are to sing and dance along to with us!
Just imagine you're slowly sailing into a chartreuse sunset - a warm Pacific breeze tussling your hair. You're sipping on a cool pina colada while the 8-track hi-fi serenades you with your favorite smooth rock hits. Your toes begin to tap the shag carpet, an undeniable smile crosses your lips and your hips begin to sway involuntarily to the sultry sounds.
That's "Yacht Rock" by The Sunset Grooves - and it's appearing live on a stage near you soon!

Stage
We are a six piece band (drums, bass, keys, two guitars and a lead vocalist).
We do require at least a 14x18 foot “stage” in a clean, level, dry area of the venue.
If the venue is outdoors, we will require a tent or awning to cover the stage area.
Electricity
The band requires at least one dedicated 15 amp circuit for our equipment. We don’t want to blow any fuses at your party, so lets make sure the venue’s microwave oven isn’t also plugged into our power source!
Sound System:
If the venue is providing the audio equipment - we have some requirements to make sure the system can handle our needs. (Please see below for Sound System Requirements). If we are providing our own professional audio system for the event, that will be reflected in the cost.
Lighting
We have some great portable stage lights that we can provide. If the venue has additional stage lighting - even better! If not, please make sure the stage area is dimly lit during our performance so that our own lighting effects can be most effective. No one wants to watch a band jam under fluorescent tubes.
Amenities
The band requires a clean, dry, safe area to store equipment, instrument cases, personal effects, and to change in and out of costumes. This should be an area that is off limits to party guests.
Travel
Travel expenses are sometimes a factor. Is your party venue out of Seattle’s city limits? Is ferry travel or airfare required? These are some of the details that need to be considered before we can give an accurate cost estimate.
