Price Range: Starting at $250
Flexibility:
First and foremost, my job is to support your event. While the preference is to have everything planned out ahead of time, I also realise things change, sometimes with little to no warning. I will be sensitive to the end goal and concept of what success looks like for your event, so I can make good, informed, decisions in a timely manner.
Truly professional and reliable performance:
I have been piping for nearly 20 years, many of those with the Canadian Armed Forces. I have had substantial experience performing extremely high profile, casual, solo, group, indoors, outdoors, +30°/-30°, rain, snow, sleat, and heat, and my instrument and I have always needed to be performance ready at a high level, and ready to react to change at short notice.
Experience-driven recommendations:
I have supported just about any sort of event imaginable, from performances for the King (and other Royalty, dignitaries, and heads of state), to surprise birthday parties (and what a surprise!), to concerts with the National Arts Centre Orchestra. With that in mind, I will be happy to work with you to determine the best music selection, placement in the space, my part of your concept, or whatever other questions you might have about my involvement.
I began piping at age 11, taking private lessons and developing my capabilities throughout high school and university. While in school, I joined the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) as a piper where the development of my skills and experience really accelerated.
I later earned a full time position leading a pipes and drums (P&D) band in the CAF, where I had the honour and privilege of performing the Lament for the National Remembrance Day Ceremony in Ottawa in front of thousands of attendees in person and many hundreds of thousands more online.
In this capacity, I've also supported a great variety of events from formal dinners, funerals, opening ceremonies, commemoration ceremonies, graduation ceremonies, and so many more.
Music I often perform includes, but is definitely not limited to:
- Scotland the Brave
- Mari's Wedding
- Highland Wedding
- Highland Cathedral
- Amazing Grace
- Flower of Scotland
- Auld Lang Syne
- Flowers of the Forest (aka "The Lament")
- Sleep Dearie Sleep (played in "The Crown")
- Skye Boat Song (played in "Outlander")
- Misc traditional dance tunes (N.S. Kitchen party style)
- Background music (best in outdoor or large indoor spaces)
I may be able to accommodate requests for specific tunes/songs, however, if it's not a traditional pipe tune, it may not work well or sound how you image on the pipes. Feel free to ask and we will figure it out!
I will only require a space to warm up in, ideally as close to possible in temperature and humidity as the performance space.
