“ If you like: The Sheepdogs, CCR, The Allman Brothers Band - Ottawa alternative folk rock band Tribe Royal may not have been alive during the ’60s and ’70s, but that doesn’t stop them from being apart of the revival. The indie four piece turn back the clocks with generous harmonies, vintage rock groove, and sing-along melodies reminiscent of the pioneering days of Americana and folk rock “ Dusty Organ (2016)

A vibrant blend of vocal harmony, tasteful melody, and punchy rhythm are just some of the elements that make up the fresh and unique sound of Ottawa based Tribe Royal. From high-energy anthems to introspective ballads; their sound transcends the many genres it encompasses and has the listener moving or moved. The hooks catch hold while the message hits home.
Tribe Royal’s sound can be described as a modern and stylistically pleasing blend of Americana-rock, 60’s British Rock and 90's Alternative Rock. At the core of the Tribe are three unique singing voices that can be layered for 3-part harmony, or woven to create imaginative counterpoints. Their sound and songs have a nostalgic feeling to them, introspective yet vibrant; grounded in the honest experiences and youthful memories.
Tribe Royal was born from the partnership of Terry O’Brien and Chris Kerwin, two aspiring songwriters, and their shared interest in the musical giants of the 20th century. When their bandmates Bram Al-Najjar and Mike Giamberardino joined -- talented and inspiring musicians in their own right -- the resulting foursome created a dynamic relationship that has crafted the band’s sound into the (North) Americana / Alt Folk Rock genres it now encompasses. Their long history as friends readily shows on stage and is naturally extended to their audience inviting you to dance like you’re alone in your bedroom. Fans are immediately struck by their memorable melodies, vibrant harmonies, pulsing rhythms and the intensity of their all-or-bust live show.
Since the band’s formation in January 2014, Tribe Royal has earned a reputation as a professional, hardworking and ambitious group. Their second studio album 'Colours of the Sun' is an explosion of sounds and colour bringing forward something for everyone. In under three years as a group, they have played more than 200 shows and are currently booking dates through 2017. Their love for music has connected them with thousands of people of all ages, through small private benefit performances, to large-scale rock venues in some of Canada’s largest cities.
Tribe Royal has played featured performances at numerous iconic venues and events including: the Legendary Horseshoe Tavern, Ottawa CityFolk/Marvest, Para Pan-Am Games, Canadian Tulip Festival, TD Union Summer, Steamwhistle Brewery RoundHouse, Ottawa’s Capital Fair, and many more spanning from central Canada to the Maritimes. Radio play includes both commercial and campus in feature and rotation including the CBC, Live 88.5, CKCU & CKDJ. The band is also working to engage at-risk youth with song writing workshop series with Ottawa’s Youth Services Bureau. With the release of ‘Colours of The Sun’ on October 17th, 2016 is set to be a pivotal year for this emerging Canadian group.
