Vera Hsu is a professional violinist based in Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky, and Indiana. She is pursuing a Doctorate in Violin Performance at CCM and has been performing as an orchestral member with the Kentucky Symphony Orchestra and the Columbus Indiana Philharmonic. Vera Hsu was born in Taipei, Taiwan, and is currently pursuing a Doctoral Degree in Violin Performance at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM), with a cognate in String Pedagogy under the guidance of Dr. Won-Bin Yim. She served as a teaching assistant in Dr. Yim’s studio, where she taught technique lessons. Vera earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the National Taiwan University of Arts. After working in Taiwan for two years, she moved to the United States to pursue a Master’s degree in Violin Performance at the University of Cincinnati.
A passionate and versatile musician, Vera has performed as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral violinist in Vienna, the United States, and Taiwan. She appeared as a violin soloist with the New Taipei High School Symphony and has performed with renowned ensembles, including the CCM Philharmonia, the Kentucky Symphony Orchestra, the Columbus Indiana Philharmonic, the Richmond Symphony Orchestra, and the Southwest Ohio Philharmonic.
Her festival experience includes performances at the Salut Taiwan International Music Festival, the Landesmusikschule Weyer–Großraming Music Festival in Europe, and the Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival in the United States. In 2023, Vera was awarded a full scholarship to attend the National Music Festival, where she studied with Jessica Mathaes, Elizabeth Adams, Emily Smith, and James Stern. In 2024, she served as a teaching artist at the Classical Music Institute, teaching three student orchestras and performing in concerts.
In addition to her academic and professional pursuits, Vera enjoys performing at weddings and special events, sharing her love of music with audiences.
