Professional bagpiper for weddings, funerals, celebrations, parties, scout activities, graduations, educational presentations, and more!
My name is Vera Hamilton. I'm the official Hamilton Clan Bagpiper for Utah and Colorado and a member of Garden Valley Pipe Band. I have been playing pipes since 1996 and have played for all kinds of special events.
I have 2 sets of pipes: highland pipes and shuttle pipes. The Highland pipes are perfect for most settings, from outdoor to indoor, small groups to large. Their sound is bright, loud, and powerful. The shuttle pipes have a warm, rich tone and are perfect for a smaller, low key, more intimate settings.

Vera brought such a great spirit to our event. It elevated it to something special. She was very flexible and easy to work with. A great addition to our event!
Response from Vera Hamilton - Event Bagpiper:
Thank you Tim! I was honored to be a part of such an important event. Let me know when you need me again. :)
Vera and the entire pipe band was so wonderful to work with! She was excellent at communicating and had wonderfully fair pricing. The event would not have been the same without them all. Thank you Vera, for your kindness and willingness to work with us. I know it meant so very much to our donor families that you were there. Thank you is not enough. ❤️
Response from Vera Hamilton - Event Bagpiper:
Thank you Tif! We were so honored to be there. Thank you for letting us come be part of the memorial service. Please keep us in mind if you ever need pipes again!
I felt like Vera was very accommodating with my odd request—I.e to come to our home and play outside o n Christmas Day as a surprise to my husband. It was freezing cold (actually below freezing) and that made her pipes not work quite as well as they usually do, but she played anyway and took time to answer our kiddos’ questions and handed out bagpiper coloring pages and word searches. Overall, felt lucky to have someone come to fulfill my surprise request, and Vera was very kind and awesome given all the (freezing) circumstances and coming on a holiday.
Vera did a beautiful job playing at my father’s funeral. She shared about the history of the pipes and meaning fullness of having them played for those who pass. Ask her to do this at your funeral as it brought me and my family so much peace. Her uniform was beautiful, she was professional, kind, punctual, and sensitive. I would recommend her to anyone and would definitely book her again. PS- the Pipes being played was our favorite, most memorable part of the service, and I know my dad thinks so too. 💜 Thank you, Vera.
Response from Vera Hamilton - Event Bagpiper:
You're very welcome Whitney! I love sharing bagpipe lore, and everyone was so kind. Please keep me in mind if you or your family ever needs a piper again.
Warmest regards,
Vera Hamilton
Vera was a wonderful addition to the ceremony. We enjoyed her and her music! Thank you!♥️
It was a surprise for my wife’s birthday party. Everone enjoyed listening to her play the bagpipes and explain some the history and how challenging they are to learn and play.
Response from Vera Hamilton - Event Bagpiper:
Thank you William! I had such a great time playing for everyone and meeting you and your wife! Keep me in mind if you ever need a piper again. :)
Vera was very engaging, sweet and amazing with the big and small pipes! Her daughter Ashlynn performed with her and what a sweetheart! She even cracked some jokes! Our festival was very successful because of Vera and her daughter was an added plus! We loved that Vera shared the history of the kilt and bagpipes!
They both did a super job!
Response from Vera Hamilton - Event Bagpiper:
Thank you Cris! The cultural festival was lots of fun, we really enjoyed being there! Everyone was so nice!
Vera was very professional and great at answering questions in a timely manner. My mother wanted a bagpiper at her service and she was a wonderful choice and respectful. I'd highly recommend her for any occasion.
Vera helped to make the wedding reception of our daughter a memorable experience for all who attended. Vera came prepared with some ideas for a proper Piper’s Toast and she also was flexible to out ideas for a procession. Her rendition of “Flower of Scotland” left many with misty eyes. I would highly recommend her for your special day.
Response from Vera Hamilton - Event Bagpiper:
Thank you Chuck! It was delightful to meet your family and play for such an important event! I had so much fun, everyone was so great participating and helping to make the toast special. Let me know if you ever need a piper for anything else, I would be happy to play for you again.
Vera was personable and professional. She played the bagpipes and shuttle pipes beautifully. Her music brought lots of needed peace. We would very much recommend her.
Vera was just amazing playing at our wedding! Extremely professional, reliable and a great communicator. She helped with suggestions for songs and offered even the choice in kilts to fit the occasion. My wife was in tears as soon as she began playing and continues to tell everyone on how majestic it was. Best money spent!
Response from Vera Hamilton - Event Bagpiper:
Thank you John! It was so fun meeting you and your beautiful wife! I was truly honored to be part of such an important day for you both. The ceremony was beautiful, and you were so great to work with! Thanks again, and I hope you have many happy years together! :D
Her personality friendliness kindness especially when it was all for a serious but practical joke she played along with it well made a great memory for everyone thank you Vera if I had the ability to choose six stars instead of five I would have
Response from Vera Hamilton - Event Bagpiper:
Thank you Rick! You and your sons were a delight to chat with and play for! :D
Vera is an amazing bagpiper and so well versed in the history of the bagpipes and the music itself. She played as a surprise for the 12 days of Christmas for our elderly parents and was truly the best Christmas gift. What an an amazing bagpiper she is! She was dressed authentically and beautifully and was a pleasure to have in our families home. She’s was on time and communicated with us so well about everything to expect. Hire Vera and you’ll be so pleased she played the pipes for you and your next event.
Response from Vera Hamilton - Event Bagpiper:
Thank you Kate! You and your family were so sweet and welcoming, I loved being a part of your family holiday! I hope to see you all again!
I reached out to Vera on Gig Salad, not knowing who she was, looking for a bagpiper willing to play a specific type of music. Vera cheerfully responded, letting me know that it was difficult to play contemporary songs on the bagpipes unless you transposed the music. However, she said that if anyone could play your request, this certain person could and gave me his name. I was immediately impressed that she was so honest and also gave us a referral. On top of that, she gave us several pointers on how we could use the Beatles music that we wanted, which we did. She then sent me a list of all of the appropriate songs that could be used for a memorial service on the bagpipes. Because of her help and openness, we decided to go with her, and we were NOT disappointed. We sent her the songs that we wanted, and then she let us choose options for the lyrics, which was fantastic. Vera played the songs that we choose in nature and then made a tribute video for us to use for the virtual service we held over Zoom. Her playing and the video she made out of it was absolutely beautiful, we loved it!!! And, so did everyone that watched the memorial online. We received so many compliments from friends and family. On top of that, we hired her to create another memorial video for us of the service and again she did a fantastic job. VERA IS AWESOME!
Response from Vera Hamilton - Event Bagpiper:
Thank you Ema for the kind words, I had such a great time getting to know your family and was honored to create the memorial video for you. Thanks for being kind and willing to work with me on coming up with creative solutions for the service! I hope to hear from you again.
Warmest regards,
Vera

Vera did great at our small family event
Our staff and Veterans truly enjoyed Ms Hamilton's performance. She was interesting, informative, played music we recognized, and was very engaging with the attendees. She shared the military history of the Bagpipe as well as the Kilt, and all other parts of the Scottish Highland Dress (shoes, socks, belt, sporran, etc.) . People throughout the hospital heard her playing the large Bagpipe. Our only regret was that there were so few of our staff and veterans in attendance. Ms Hamilton was definitely a highlight of our Diversity Event this year. We truly appreciate her willingness to volunteer her time and her talents.
Response from Vera Hamilton - Event Bagpiper:
Thank you Mari! I had a great time interacting with everyone. I hope to be invited back next year. :)
Vera showed up on time, was prepared and ready to go, and the golfers loved it!
She was so helpful, willing and compassionate, we our family could not have received a better caring service. Thanks
Vera was everything as advertised and more. She played the bagpipes well and looked the part head to toe. But equally as important was her punctuality and willingness to cooperate. She was a “surprise” part of our business promotion of a free trip to Ireland and everyone got a big kick out of her appearance. Her flexibility in working around our schedule made it a huge success. I highly recommend her.
Response from Vera Hamilton - Event Bagpiper:
Thank you, Ed! I had a blast playing for everyone, the enthusiasm and energy of the crowd was incredible! I think the entire room committed to making it to Ireland. Keep me in mind if you need a piper for anything else! :D
They did such a fantastic job with our Yelp Event. They were poised and gracious and provided wonderful information about their uniforms and Scottish culture. I would recommend them for any fun, outgoing event.
Response from Vera Hamilton - Event Bagpiper:
Thank you, Shaylin! The members of my band, Garden Valley Pipe Band, and I seriously enjoyed performing and entertaining your Yelp spotlight crowd! I hope to work with you again soon!
I hired Vera to be a special part of an opening ceremony. The ceremony is for a citizen's academy regarding the life of law enforcement, fireman and ambulance personnel. We searched for a special something to set our ceremony above and beyond. Vera was that something. She was very professional, yet very personable. She made our ceremony fantastic. The compliments I received were numerous. If you want that something special, call Vera, she wont let you down.
Vera was on time and played beautifully for our son and new daughter in laws Scottish draping ceremony at their wedding luncheon. She made the day so special with the sound of bagpipes bringing in our rich heritage. Everyone loved it.
Response from Vera Hamilton - Event Bagpiper:
Thank you Holle! It was a beautiful ceremony and I was honored to be part of it!
Couldn't be happier with Vera and her services. She played two songs at my son's funeral and it was just what we wanted. Highly recommended.
Response from Vera Hamilton - Event Bagpiper:
Thank you for the kind words, Jessica! It was a privilege to play for your baby boy's service, and again my sincerest condolences for your loss. I loved being there and being a part of helping you and your family begin the healing process. Please let me know if you ever need a piper again.

Vera really went the extra mile in helping make my friend's wedding her dream wedding! Vera led the wedding processional while playing her bagpipe and provided music for the couple's first dance and more. THANK YOU, Vera, for everything you did to make the day so amazing! I give you the highest recommendation! And if I every need someone to play bagpipes again, you are definitely my first choice!
Response from Vera Hamilton - Event Bagpiper:
Thank you for the kind words Leslie! The wedding was such a fun and unforgettable event, and I'm happy I was able to provide a special touch to the evening. Seeing how happy the bride was walking down the aisle to Highland Cathedral was a moment I'll never forget. I was honored to be there and help her have her dream wedding. I hope to hear from you again! :)
I hired Vera to prank my sister during her wedding. Vera totally “got” the prank, and even helped me brainstorm ideas. She made it very easy for me orchestrate a very memorable moment for my sister.

Every performance is as different as the people who book me, from funerals to weddings, family parties to educational. While every event is different, what always remains the same across all my performances is my attention to detail, communication with my clients, and the professionalism I bring.
When you book me you can expect to work out the finer details of exactly what you would like, from the tunes played to when they are played, where you want me in relation to the audience, etc. I show up 15 minutes early in case there are any last minute changes or requests. When I arrive I am fully dressed in my traditional Scottish attire, ready to play. I am courteous and cordial to all guests and take the time to talk with anyone who would like to speak with me before and after the performance. I have a wealth of information about the Scottish uniform and the bagpipes and love to share my knowledge with anyone who is interested.
Bagpipes ...you can never have too many...
I offer 2 types of bagpipes for your event: the Great Highland Warpipes and the Walsh Shuttle Pipes. The Great Highland Warpipes are the common Scottish bagpipe you see in parades, at funerals, and at other celebrations. On a clear day, they can be heard miles away. These pipes stir the soul and embolden the warrior before battle, command reverence and respect at funerals, comfort and heal the broken, honor to those in service, and are a registered instrument of war. Their sound is crisp, clear, and loud. The Walsh Shuttle Pipes are smaller and have a rich, warm, mellow tone. These pipes are perfect for smaller intimate settings. They still offer a huge impact like the highland pipes but are not overpowering. These bagpipes are approved for playing in LDS chapels.
Bagpipes can take every occasion to the next level, bringing importance and making every kind of celebration special and memorable. Here are some events perfect for a piper:
Funerals, Life Celebrations, Memorial Services ...in honor and memory of those who have passed...
Bagpipes have a profound healing effect on those in mourning. The Scots believed the sound of the bagpipe call forth the family that has already passed on and leads them to the funeral service where they collect the soul of the recently departed and take them to heaven. They are a beautiful way to pay tribute to the life of a loved one. It is always an honor when I'm asked to play in remembrance and celebration of the recently departed. I offer a large tune selection for funerals, from traditional laments to church hymns to slow marches and more. I do everything I can to accommodate special song requests and will offer solutions if the requested song can't be played on the bagpipe. My Walsh Shuttle Pipes are one of the few instruments approved for playing in LDS chapels, which allows me to lead the casket into the chapel at the start of the service and lead them back out. I have even played a selection of tunes as part of the funeral service. The rich, warm tone of these pipes is perfect for a chapel or indoor funeral service setting. Some tunes I recommend for funerals: Amazing Grace, Abide With Me, Danny Boy, Flower of Scotland, Going Home, Highland Cathedral, Loch Lomond, Mist Covered Mountains, Nearer My God to Thee, Oh My Father
Military ...in honor of those who serve...
Bagpipes are a great way to add time-honored tradition to important military ceremonies, celebrations, banquets, award nights, and dinners. Military tunes: America the Beautiful, Airforce, Anchors Away, Army, God Bless America, Marine Corps
Weddings ...in celebration of a new life together...
Make your wedding unforgettable to more than just you and your spouse by having a bagpiper there to kick off the celebration! Whether it's having the piper pipe in the wedding procession and lead the bride and her escort down the aisle, or it's music to dance to during the reception, there are many ways to include bagpipes in your magical night. Are you a "Go big or go home!" sort of couple? I have access to an entire pipe band that can come entertain, delight, and make a big impact on the night. I have lots of awesome wedding traditions to share and suggest if you are looking for a Scottish/Irish/Celtic themed wedding. I am also a graphic artist and can create one of a kind wedding announcements and invitations for you, as well as unique table toppers and a clan wedding plaque. Let me help you with the details! Some tunes I recommend for weddings: Highland Cathedral, Skye Boat Song, Clumsy Lover, Scotland the Brave
Parties ...celebrating the life in a big way...
Birthdays, family get-togethers, life milestones, accomplishments, and just for fun, bagpipes will delight and entertain the entire crowd and make the celebration to a whole new level of special! Great party tunes: Happy Birthday, Scotland the Brave, Minstrel Boy, 42nd Highlander's March
Uniforms ...traditional Scottish Bagpiper attire...
I have 3 different kilts on hand: Hamilton Grey (grey and black plaid), Forsyth Modern (rich green and blue with yellow and red accents), and solid black. I have access to Blackwatch (dark green and blue) and Royal Stewart (red with yellow, white, green, and blue accents). If you prefer a different tartan, please let me know and I will do everything possible to acquire it for your event. If you would like a custom tartan with the specific colors you have in mind, I'll work with you to create it. You'll have your own unique tartan commemorating your special event! Besides the kilt, I have the full uniform, from the military style hat (glengarry) to the leather wingtip shoes.
Educational Presentations ...the history of the pipes...
The bagpipe and the Scottish uniform have a rich history. Let me come present them to your class and teach your students about the pipes, show how they work, discuss tuning and playing technique, discuss the uniform and the function of the kilt, sporran, and other items a piper would have on them. I guarantee it will be educational, fun, and very memorable for the students! Perfect for students of all ages!
I am the official Hamilton Clan Piper for Utah and Colorado, and I've been playing bagpipes since 1996. I have a passion for the instrument and its history. The bagpipe provides a powerful and unique sound that stirs the soul and emboldens the spirit. Playing the bagpipe is very therapeutic and I love playing.
When I was in 2nd grade my parents requested that I learn an instrument. They wanted me to start playing once I started 3rd grade. I told them I wanted to play the bagpipe. They said no, I was too little, they didn't know where to find me lessons, and the bagpipe was certainly too pricey. So I settled on learning the flute. As luck would have it, the high school I would be going to had a bagpipe band, so when I was in 8th grade I once again expressed my desire to learn the bagpipe. A bagpipe class was going to be offered at my school starting the next year. My parents once again said no, they couldn't afford a set of bagpipes for me. So my grandfather stepped in and told me if I learned how to play the bagpipe, he would front me the money for my first set. I was delighted! I bought a practice chanter and started learning right away. By the time 9th grade started, I could play several songs. A few months later my grandfather made good on his promise and bought me my first set of bagpipes. I paid him back over the course of the next year. It was the beginning of my bagpiping journey.
Over the years I've been in several pipe bands and have competed with them at the highland games. Currently, I'm part of Garden Valley Pipe Band, located in the Orem Utah area.
Since the bagpipe is plenty loud, I don't require any sort of sound systems such as microphones and speakers. I am really good at figuring out the best place to stand in relation to the audience. If you have a specific vision in mind of exactly how you want me to make an entrance or where you want me standing, or how you want me to exit, I will be more than happy to accommodate you and work out the details.
