Vernon "Longhorn" Davis

I met Longhorn at a bar in Nashville. It was hosting a comedy open mic and we got to chatting at the bar. I asked if he was going up and he said no, he was just checking out some local talent. But at the end of the night he jumped up and 5 minutes and they were, by far, the best 5 minutes of the night. He encouraged all the other comedians, he made us all laugh and he brought an energy into the room that hadn't been there before. I would absolutely see him perform again if I had the chance.

Funny as hell not many out there willing to make fun of everyone even themselves but he does and I love it!!

The fact Longhorn The Comedian takes time to take all veterans really hit my heart. I had a blast at his Cape Girardeau show at Laughing Gas and would for sure go see him again

In February of 2022, he happened to stop in as a friend of one of the comics we had performing that night and we’d asked him if he’d go on for a short set and also talk about his charity, (see below). He did so and had the audience in absolute stitches for ten minutes before mentioning his charity! (I felt bad for the comic that had to follow him! Thankfully she was a friend of his and equally skilled!)

Beyond the stage, Longhorn has a charity that helps our returning vets cope with things like PTSD and depression — an honorable cause by a vet himself, who comes from a family with generations of veterans.

I saw Longhorn in Kansas City in June 2020. During the COVID situation. He is absolutely the BEST medicine for what ails us.

Words cannot express how much the Student veterans of ST. Bonaventure University appreciate Mr. Longhorn Davis. Longhorn volunteered his time to headline our Veterans fundraiser that raised over $6000 to help send veterans attending college to a Welness Pilgrimage in Assisi Italy. Mr. Davis recognized vietnam veterans and brought them up on stage recognizing them with a token of his appreciation. He also gifted two disabled veterans with a American Flag lap blanket. Longhorn was able to keep the laughter in the audience even when the recognition to our veterans became emotional. We will be inviting Mr. Davis to not only perform again next year but to be our honored guest speaker for our universities veterans day ceremony.

I have hired Longhorn for the past 8 years. I have hired him as a Comedian and as an Emcee. He has always shown up early and was ready to hit the stage when it was his time. He has always been very entertaining for the fans that come to see him.

Longhorn, Vernon or Coach as I call him performed for my family and close friends at a very small function (invitation only) with very little notice. I called Coach out of the blue, after not seeing each other for many years and told him a young man we both knew was being laid to rest and I needed someone to liven up the crowd. His reply was "when coach? I need to prepare!'

That call took placed on a Friday morning. Sunday evening after a regular gig, Long Horn showed up. Not Vernon or Coach but Longhorn. He helped the crowd experience many emotions that night. We cried, we reminisced and we laughed, Oh did we laugh. Long Horn found the funny part of everything we were experiencing that day and made us realize life was short, grab the moment and seize the day.

Coach, thanks for helping myself and my family get through the worst day and the worst experience God could ever throw at us. Keep up the good work of making people laugh and helping fellow vets.

I went to see Longhorn, and laughed my beachside off! He was hilarious, and as a disabled Veteran I really appreciated his love of our country and our Vets. I can't wait to have the opportunity to see him again!

Upon my first visual perception, I was slightly thrown off. Being from the Midwest You Don't See proud black men wearing cowboy boots, and ten gallon hats. His hat was actually more like a three gallon but you get the point. One of the most refreshing things I saw was his ability to spontaneously involve anyone during real time into a comedic fall out of laughter. His comedy is not for a people of uneducated lack of understanding. This is a very proud man a veteran of the United States services, who blends inquisitivity with coherent, past and present situations. If I had to warn you about anything it would be that he is brutally honest about life, factual, but yet still human and understanding. You will laugh until you leave. Last but not least I wouldn't suggest you try heckling, or challenging anything he gives you without knowing a great deal more about the world we live in than he does!

Hilarious guy

Longhorn was great! We enjoyed his set at the St. Louis Public Library for our entertainment concert series Contemporary Tuesday Nights. He is funny, sincere, and best of all, he is just being himself. I would highly recommend him for others to hire and would be glad to have him return as both an entertainer or as a host.

We were looking for someone to headline our 1st Annual Fishing For Freedom Quincy, IL event in June 2011. I got on-line and found Longhorn The Comedian. Then noticed he only lived a couple hours away. Now to convince him to do our event and a price we could afford. So I picked up the phone and called his booking number. I didn't get someone else, I talked to Longhorn. I explained what our event was and before I got done, he interrupted me and said he would do it. He was great working with us to get to a price we could afford.

Though the whole process of booking him and getting him to our event, Longhorn was a true professional. You won't find a easier guy to work with. Every time I called him and told him of this change or that change, he would say "It's no problem". He made my job a lot easier.

Now he showed up at our event about 6 hours ahead of time to checkout the venue and see what we had for him. He was funny from the moment he showed up. Now it's 8pm and he takes the stage as our headliner in front of 500 Military Men & Women. It was great. He worked the crowd and did plenty to keep them entertained.

I was the emcee at a Night of Comedy that featured Longhorn. Having never worked with him, or his troop, I wasn't sure what to expect or the reaction of the crowd. However, Longhorn connected with the group and I saw more smiles than a group of kids playing with a puppy. By the end of the night my only concern was possible medical issues after seeing people laugh so hard. Everyone there felt like they had a new friend named, "Longhorn."

Long Horn was hired by GMD-Entertainment July 2011 to Headline a 3 city 3 show tour. He was hilarious and his timing was awesome. He quickly adapted to his new location and provided remarkable on the spot adjustment comedy. His show provided flexible entertainment for soldiers, airmen and their families in the cities of Stuttgart, Mannheim, and Heildelberg. Wow says it all, I have assisted a few organizations with fundraisers using Longhorn as the Host Commedian and charging him with setting up the nights entertainment. He comes through everytime and even better he makes sure he hits the mark when it comes to the expectations of the crowd. I have seen Long horn in Saint Louis. I have seen him in Marion, Il. I have been lucky to have shared a stage on both occasions. Watching Long Horn work is a study in the American experience made funny. All from the faceted perspectives of an intellectual, a father, an everyman, a husband, a soldier and a cowboy. All rolled up in one and delivered in a great show. His delivery is flawless and his stage presence is larger than life. You can't go wrong seeing his show.

Some comedians are only funny when they are on stage, indicating that their show is scripted. But Longhorn The Comedian is funny all the time, and was a joy to be around. He also knew when to be a professional and did what ever needed to be done to make the show a success. He took the time to interact with audience before and after the show. Longhorn made a strong fan base while visiting Germany, and we will be staying in contact with him to invite him to perform for us in the future.

I met Longhorn while doing the 50 Comics Deep Competition sponsored by Nephew Tommy of The Steve Harvey Morning Show. He's a pro at What he does, the material isnt geared toward one particular demographic he's an everyman onstage. Ive been doining comedy for 10 years myself and I can say that he is a real comic and by that I mean he writes jokes,his set doesnt depend on working the crowd over or insulting people in the first row. Book him and you will book him again.

I had the good fortune to work with Long Horn the Comedian...To say that he is professional and funny and a very good story teller..is only the start and he really does like to encourage newbie comedians where ever he finds them. In the backwoods or urban areas,funny is just funny to him.

Longhorn is the funniest comedian I have ever seen. His material was great, and hysterical as well… and the way he dealt with the hecklers was sometimes even more funny than his material. I had big expectations going in to hear his stand-up—and I came out blown away! LOVED IT!

This guy is super professional. I have had the pleasure of working with him twice and both times resulted in a great show and wonderful memories. Longhorn is the man!

Longhorn The Comedian was amazing!! i'd only seen one other comedy show before and wasn't really expecting much,but he gave us the best show our town had ever seen! we can't wait to have him back for another!

2nd show, and was as excellent as the first. Wonderful story teller and interacts very well with the crowd. Been at our Winery, Collver Family Winery, twice. first time as the opening act he walked off to a standing ovation. Very entertaining and personable. We would definetlt book Longhorn again.

I've worked with for Longhorn several times since last December, I lost count. He is an example of Comedy done right. He has loads of original material, he has a great ability to read a crowd and makes adjustments on the fly with smooth transitions...it's always interesting to watch one of his sets, because you never really know what direction he is going to take things, but he always ends with a strong finish. He is a complete comedian. I have never seen him have a bad set.

He has a true love of comedy and it shows. He has made sacrifices, he works very hard at it everyday, logged a lot of miles getting his voice out there and sharing the love. As far as rating on the basis of stars...it's really not my place, but I would give him four, only because I know his best comedy is still on the horizon.

Not sure of the date, but it was earlier this year in 2010. Longhorn helped out at a charity event for Haiti relief. This was our first time seeing him do his act. Incredible, so fun and genuine. I had to befriend him on facebook after that!

Longhorn was amazing! Hilarious and was a comedian that you could relate to easily. I cannot wait to see him perform again! I would recommend anyone to see him!!!

I thought Longhorn was super funny. I was a lil afraid he wouldn't be funny when he came out in the COW BOY hat but he got game.Sorry I don't remember when it was but i seen him twice at The St Louis House Of Comedy.

Excellent entertainer, hsd the crowd totally involved. Over an hour of solid comedey. Longhorn is easy to listen to and has a great command of the show and stage. Would go see again. 5 stars. Kinda sounds like an Ebay feed back. Hes great and you dont want to miss him, before he goes big time

He brings a unique and witty perspective to his comedy. I think he is funny on many levels. Even after his performance, I recalled things he'd said and started laughing all over again!! I love this man.

VERY VERY FUNNY GUY............

Longhorn came in and did a full set on a night we lacked a headliner, and he killed it. He was fantastic. He hung out with everyone after the show and was the nicest guy you could meet. And his comedy was fantastic as well! I highly recommend him.
