Wanda C. Scott, (spinto) soprano, of Northwest Indiana. Throughout her career as a classical concert singer, Wanda’s vocal timbre, while inherently distinctive, has been compared to the powerful and rich tones of opera great, Jessye Norman.
Ms. Scott debuted the role of "Serena" in Gershwin’s "Porgy and Bess," and performed in the ensemble cast for Lyric Opera of Chicago. She made her professional debut with Light Opera Works and the Chicago Opera Theatre, and performs for many civic and cultural events throughout the U.S.
A member of AGMA (American Guild of Musical Artists), she also earned a music certificate while performing and studying in cities throughout Italy and Switzerland.
Having worked alongside Wanda for a number of years, I've had several opportunities to hear her wonderful singing voice: At an event at The DuSable Museum, in the Chicago Lyric Opera's production of "Porgy & Bess", and when my husband and I renewed our wedding vows. On that special day, Wanda wowed everyone in attendance, even moving some to tears. Every time she performs, not only does her rich, beautiful voice draw you completely into her performance, but she displays a depth of emotion that seems to transform her physically into the ambiance and mood of the music. Wanda truly is a star.
I have had the honor and pleasure of seeing Wanda perform on many occasions and each time am just in awe of her God-given gift. No doubt, God reached down and touched her vocal cords at a very young age! Her singing voice has a beautiful, powerful range, and she is able to sing complex arias as well as spiritual songs. For my mother's memorial service, she sang "The Lord's Prayer" so beautifully and soulfully, myself and everyone else had tears in their eyes. Wanda is a poised professional and knows music very well. Anyone would be fortunate and blessed to hear her sing.
Wanda is too good to be real: She can sing Classical songs and Gospel. Her high and slow notes are amazing and it's just unbelievable to hear her singing, a true angel! She has a great style, she is the sweetest person ever. She's not just one of the best singers but she is also the most beautiful person inside and outside in the world.
