Motown/Jazz/Blues/Classic Rock/Gospel & originals, covers across the spectrum of "cool"
Completed the Detroit music circuit several times over, has played and recorded with well known artists both locally and in Chicago. Machine Gun Kelly (saxophonist) is known for her energy and intensity on stage.
MGK Band give you the best of everything! Rock, R & B, Blues, Jazz, Christian! Keith Johnsons licks remind me of Slow Hand... Able to rip em' out or mellow it down... Kelly Johnson his wife is by far one of the best Sax players I have ever heard... Able to keep up with her husband or even blow that horn right past him! This is a must see band!!!!!!
As a professional guitarist of 40 years, I highly recommend the Machine Gun Kelly Band.
They played at our biker and hot rod show. Everyone was just wowed by the saxaphone player, and her voice was so soulful, she was amazing and the lead gauitar was a cross between Jimmy Hendricks and Steve Rae Vaughn. The entire band was great. My 2 favorite songs are Walk To The Cross, never heard such a soulful song without lyrics and Amazing Grace, their version was Blues and great. Look forward to hearing them again.
The girl can play the sax like nobody's business! The melodic saxophone and guitar harmonies are intoxicating. Their music had me dancing all night.
This band is wonderful. excellent lead guitar player. Sax is amazing the whole band is very professional sounding. Good mix of blues and Christian. Great sound.

The genesis of the MGK Band is a love story between Keith and Kelly Johnson.
Songwriting started early with "Man Socks" as an early musical offering (It's a long story...but it starts with an unfortunate wardrobe choice on Kelly's Part).
Years, a couple of band name changes, and four CDs later, the new songs keep coming.
In the married tradition, songwriting and recording can sometimes resemble a ringside event, but the results speak for themselves; jazzy, bluesy American cool.
The MGK Band has been blessed with extremely special guests, including Pat O'Hearn (guitar and vocals) and Scarlett Moore (vocals).
Pat is a known for his beautiful originals (One Bed Flat & Baby Blue).
Scarlett Moore, our classically trained diva, is the music director at Living Word Worship Center in Brownstown, Michigan. She is also the lead vocalist for Kindred Nation.
Other special guests include: Jon Johnson (Alligators), John Galvin (Molly Hatchet), Amir Edwards and Rusty Rhoads.
Keith Johnson - Lead Guitar
Keith began crafting originals at the age of 15. Since that time, he has written hundreds of songs, frequently waking with a completed song playing in his head. Keith states that he agrees with Bob Dylan on songwriting: "I don't write songs, I just write them down."
"Machine Gun" Kelly Connors Johnson - Saxophone and Vocals
From jazz and blues to contemporary Christian and gospel, Kelly has completed the Detroit music circuit several times over. She has played and recorded with well-know artists both locally and in Chicago, and is known for her energy and intensity on stage.
David Hertlein - Bass
David is the rarest of gems: a bass player who never plays too much or too little. Throwing down solid pocket for over forty years, he has graced the stage of famous and infamous Detroit characters. When he isn't playing bass, he's catching them.
Derek Johnson - Drums
Derek can play anything but concentrates on bass and drums. With phenomenal instincts on drums and Victor Wooten-style bass thumping, he is well known on the blues and gospel scenes in Detroit. Derek has toured with several national bands, opening for major acts across the country.
