Zach Bartholomew is an award-winning jazz pianist, composer, and music educator who holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in jazz performance from the Frost School of Music, University of Miami. In 2016 and 2017, he was chosen as one of five finalists to compete in the highly acclaimed Jacksonville Jazz Piano Competition and won 3rd place both years. In 2017, Zach was a featured Artist-in-Residence at the Jalisco Jazz Festival in Guadalajara, Mexico, performed at the Jazz Educators Network conference in New Orleans, and won 2nd place in the Monterey Next Generation Jazz Competition. He has toured with his trio across the country and has performed as a sideman with renowned international artists.
My wife and I saw Zach at FAU on Valentine’s Day and he is by far the best pianist we’ve had the pleasure of hearing in a long time. I wish I could have hired him for my mom’s 90th birthday party— if he’d been in Toronto, Canada. He will go far.

When working with Zach, you can expect music of a very high caliber and someone who is professional, reliable, and easy to work with. Zach's band will provide all of the sound needs (cables, speakers, etc) and can be flexible to accommodate the space of the venue/event.
Zach Bartholomew is an award-winning jazz pianist, composer, and music educator. He graduated magna cum laude from Florida State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Music in 2009 and a Master of Music in jazz performance in the Spring of 2015. In the Fall of 2015 he moved to Miami after being awarded a full tuition waiver to pursue a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Miami Frost School of Music, which he received in May 2018. In 2016 and 2017, he was chosen as one of five finalists to compete in the highly acclaimed Jacksonville Jazz Piano Competition and won 3rd place both years. In 2017, Zach was a featured Artist-in-Residence at the Jalisco Jazz Festival in Guadalajara, Mexico, performed at the Jazz Educators Network conference in New Orleans, and won 2nd place in the Monterey Next Generation Jazz Competition’s small group category.
Zach has toured with his trio numerous times throughout the Midwest, Southeast, and Northeast parts of the United States, headlining at venues such as Blues Alley, Twins Jazz, Andy’s Jazz Club, The Jazz Showcase, The Jazz Kitchen, Cliff Bells, Nighttown, BOP STOP, The Jazz Estate, Velvet Note, and many others. In addition to touring across the country with his trio, Zach has performed with artists such as Brian Lynch, Dafnis Prieto, Dave Holland, David Liebman, Ira Sullivan, Cyrille Aimee, John Beasley, and Kevin Mahogany. Other professional experience as a performer include leading a jazz quartet on Princess Cruises, playing numerous jazz festivals and concert series, releasing an album, and winning 1st place in the Salett Arts Center Jazz Trio Competition in Raleigh, NC.
As an educator, Zach has taught at jazz camps for middle and high-schoolers, conducted workshops at high schools, taught as an assistant band director for extracurricular jazz band programs, and has been the instructor for college music courses in class piano, jazz combo, and applied lessons. He currently teaches at the Community Arts Program in Miami and is a Frost Teaching Mentor through the Frost School of Music’s Shalala MusicReach program. Zach currently resides in Miami, FL and is involved in a number of musical projects as both a leader and a sideman. His original music is inspired by the jazz tradition, but also draws heavily from Afro-Cuban rhythms and modern influences.
We need enough stage space for a piano, upright bass, and drumset. If there is no piano then there must be an outlet nearby and enough space to set up a keyboard and amp. We bring out own instruments and amps, but can also plug into the house sound system if necessary.

Our sets usually last between 45 minutes and 1 hour, with a 10 to 15 minute break in between.
Traditional/straight-ahead jazz, Afro-Cuban music, and modern influences. We cater our music to the client's preference but can offer a variety of styles within the jazz/blues/latin idiom.
