Ākāśavāni Kīrtan is a kīrtan band blending ancient Sanskrit mantras with contemporary western sounds. Our sound offers 3 beautiful harmonizing vocals supported by Guitar, Harmonium, Cello, Bass, Sitar, and percussion. Ākāśavāni is a Sanskrit word meaning "sound from the heavens". Kīrtan is a style of sacred music done in a call and response manner. This music will take you out of your head and into your heart.

Ākāśavāni Kirtan's core members are Kathy Bolte, Christie Smirl and Eddie Young. They compose, arrange and produce all their original chants. Kathy & Christie handle the vocals. Kathy plays Harmonium and Guitar, Christie plays Harmonium, and Eddie plays Cello, Bass and Udu. They are often joined by Nick Young on the Sitar and Christo Pellani or Blake Eldredge on Percussion.
Christie and Kathy offer other talents beyond their music.
Christie is a Doctor of Ayurvedic Medicine, Reiki Master, Yoga Teacher, and Sound Healer. She is a natural healer and spiritual visionary. Kathy is a Yogasana and Nada Yoga (yoga of sound) Teacher. She also facilitates Women's Wisdom Circles and is skilled at story telling. Together Christie & Kathy lead kirtan, workshops and retreats in the U.S. and India.
