I'm a veteran of the US Navy and a retired law enforcement officer with over 32 years of service.
I'm also a retired member of the World famous Pipes and Drums of the Cleveland Police and I'm now with the Charleston Pipe Band.
I have played numerous funerals, weddings, and celebrations including:
Eight 9/11 ceremonies in New York City:
NOTE: In order to be a member of the Cleveland Police Band, I had to memorize and play, (while marching) 22 songs, without a break, in order to make the band. The Charleston Police Band has 24 songs I needed to memorize and play while marching in order to be in the ban
Most importantly, I play what you want. (link hidden).

I can’t say enough! We had The Bagpiper of the Low Country, play for a Celebration of Life Service for my Aunt. I was planning and traveling from out of State and a little stressed to say the least. Mike was great! He was easy to work with, sounded amazing, and was able to accommodate a last minute change to make it perfect. If you need a wonderful person and Bagpiper for any event, my family and I would recommend Mike. Thanks again Mike!

My husband was thrilled with Mike. Great performance. Very friendly. Lived by the entire party. Really pleased.
Mike was fabulous! Mike was a surprise for the groom and he pulled it off beautifully. We were thankful to have him and appreciate his skill and attention to detail.

Great guy. Did an awesome job. Very happy with Mike.
Response from Bagpiper of the Low Country:
Thank you
Piper did an excellent job, even in the rain!
I hired Mr Hostler to play at my mothers funeral and he did and amazing job!! It was her wish to have Amazing Grace played at her service by bagpipe and I was able to fulfill that wish. Mr . Hostler was timely and very friendly. Although I hired him to play one song, he played multiple songs including When the Saints Go Marching In at the conclusion of the service. My hats off to you sir. God Bless You
Response from Bagpiper of the Low Country:
Thank you, Clifford: So much love, and respect for your mother from you.

Mike was a wonderful addition to our outdoor wedding. We spoke by phone prior to the event to discuss logistics and song selection, and everything went as planned. He was dressed in the uniform as pictured on this site, and this made the whole experience even more spectacular. If you are thinking of including a bagpipe at your event, Mike would be an excellent choice!
Response from Bagpiper of the Low Country:
Thank you, Julia. It was a great night.
Mike
I highly recommend the Bagpiper of the Low Country to anyone looking for a bagpiper for an event. He was communicative before the event, prompt with his arrival, extremely talented, and exceptionally engaging! He came to our 33rd annual preschool parade and led the parade. He was so aware of the audience and what would best ¨play¨ to them; we had people asking for pictures with him after the parade ended! I have heard so many people mention what a great job he did, and the photographer who reported on our event clearly was impressed as he featured him in several pictures. I am so happy that I was able to hire him, and I am already hoping that he will want to return to our event next year. This was my first time using Gig Salad, and I certainly have a wonderful impression of the whole service now.
Response from Bagpiper of the Low Country:
Dear Meg: Holy cow! Thank you so much for this compliment. I really enjoyed the students reactions. Heck, I only moved South to be with mu 4 grandchildren (7 years, 8, 9 and 11). I also want to congratulate you for such a great job of managing this fabulous celebration.

This was a nice touch on a rather non-traditional wedding.
He was very personable as well as talented. I would highly recommend him for any event or gathering!
Bagpiper of the Low Country came to our house to play for my wife's birthday. He was an exceptional musician, and he was charming as well. He even learned a new piece to play for the event. My wife loves bagpipes, and she was thrilled, as was I. We were beyond happy and recommend him to anyone who is looking for an experience of a lifetime.
Mike played as a surprise for my dad’s 70th and everyone had the best time! Mike was great to work with, very responsive and so talented. Highly recommend! Thanks for the memories, Mike!
We had an awesome experience with Mike. He wrote the full attire, played some fun songs and interacted with our guests on the history and traditions of the music. We will definitely book again.
Response from Bagpiper of the Low Country:
Thank you. It is always a pleasure to play for great folks.
It was an incredible event
Thanks Mike!!
We got a quick response to our need for a bagpiper for my mother's funeral. He was so willing to play what we wanted and had great suggestions as well. Thank you so much for doing a FANTASTIC job!!
Great performance!!!
Mike was AMAZING! He learned a specific song for our wedding ceremony, did an awesome job with it. We could not be happier with him. After the ceremony, he hung around and interacted with the guests, posed for pictures, etc. Very friendly and personable. Recommend him 100+%
Response from Bagpiper of the Low Country:
Thank you, Thomas. It was a fun night and playing for good people makes it so much easier.
Mike
Our piper was very talented and personable. He played various numbers before the start of the funeral and Amazing Grace at the end. We would have paid more because he was worth it. Everyone was asking questions about his attire and pipes, everything was completely authentic. Thank you for providing a bright light in our special day.
Mike is a great guy, talented and made us both cry with Danny Boy.
I would not hesitate to call him again.
Response from Bagpiper of the Low Country:
God bless you, George. It was a wonderful afternoon.
Mike
Mike is an amazing person and piper. His musicianship, professionalism, and kind, caring, and compassionate outlook on life helped make my brother's celebration of life extra special and the most memorable. This man has so much talent and a big heart to match. It all comes through in his music. My brother wanted bagpipes at his celebration of life and I feel like he got the best! My entire family was blown away by this extraordinary musician. My cousin said he didn't realize bagpipes could sound so amazing and talked about it for days. Mike really went that extra mile to make this celebration of life for my brother better than I could have ever imagined and that I will never forget. I will definitely hire him again...and again! Thank you, Mike!
It was amazing and fun and funny!!
Mike was absolutely incredible. He was beyond friendly, went way out of his way to help us, and overall was an incredible guy. He was very talented and had a great personality.
He played for my father’s celebration of life and was very respectful but also was very good at keeping things light and in good memory.
I would recommend Mike for any event!
Response from Bagpiper of the Low Country:
Thank you. You did a great job of bringing your family together. You actually helped me fee like part of the family, rather than an outsider.
Mike
Mike was such a blessing to our family as we held a memorial for our Mother. His choice of songs and knowledge of the tunes brought tears to all the Irish Eyes.

We hired him to perform for Heritage weekend. He was great! Our residents really enjoyed him. It was a fun way to be entertained and still stay socially distanced.
My wedding was perfect. Having Mike was an absolute pleasure. The performance was truly the icing on the cake and gave the exit of my ceremony much-needed flair. I enjoyed quick and easy communication and willingness to accommodate any and all needs/concerns. I {100%} recommend him to any and everyone for their event.

Played for Dad's funeral, arrived early, found his place in the order of things, and played beautifully. Uniform was sharp.
Response from Bagpiper of the Low Country:
Thank you. Your Father was a very good man. His best work was the development of a great family.
Mike arrived before his scheduled time. He waited until it was time and entered exactly as planned. He is one of the best bagpipers I have heard. You will not be disappointed if you use his service.
