Ben Hippen was the featured performer at a concert held at the Porter House Museum. The Porter House has a history of hosting live musical performers in its historic music room, a tradition that stretches back to Adelbert and Grace Porter (an accomplished pianist in her own right) hosting recitals at their home. Ben was the perfect bridge between the traditional, stately beauty of our museum, and the modern ways in which history, art, and music inspire us today. Ben writes and performs music that is fresh and new, yet within reach and meaningful to general listeners. His musical creations were striking in the intimate space of our music room. All in attendance collectively sighed and held our breaths with each swell of the music. A very special experience.
When I booked Ben Hippen, I thought I knew what I was getting into. In truth, I had no idea I was dealing with a musical genius whose original composition was able to express worlds of conflict and emotion, while maintaining an underlying beauty that would bring half of the room to gasps and tears. While this might sound like an exaggeration, I rest my reputation as an arts producing on the outstanding quality of Ben's performance and creation. I was raised in Decorah, Iowa and grew up making music. I’ve played many instruments (including piano, keyboards, and strings) and have composed and arranged many pieces. My second album, “Word Is”, was released in February 2107.
All I need is a piano. If no piano is available, I can provide a keyboard and portable sound system.
