Eden Lane is a traditional jazz band with an affinity for The Great American Songbook. Anchored by redheaded songbird Stephanie Layton, they perform repertoire ranging from the Prohibition Era to the 1940s & 50s, and their sound has frequently been compared to that of Ella Fitzgerald, Diana Krall and Peggy Lee. The band crafts their sets to combine fresh takes on classic tunes with rarer gems from deep in the vintage vault, and can go from intimate and sultry to lively and swinging based on your event!
Eden Lane can play as 2 - 6 pieces, and instruments include vocals, guitar, upright bass, trumpet or sax, drums, and piano.
Stephanie worked solo keyboard for a party celebrating my husband's 60th birthday party. She agreed to an odd, specific task: Play all Sondheim, all afternoon. She made every step of the process so easy and filled us with confidence, from signing the contract to choosing the playlist, to making payments. Her musicianship is impeccable, and her flexibility just blew us away. We couldn't have asked for a better experience.
Response from Eden Lane Jazz Band:
Thank you so much, Gary!
We wish we could give more than 5 stars, because Eden Lane went above and beyond in all categories. Eden Lane is an extraordinary group of musicians. We had them play during our cocktail hour and it was easily the highlight of our entire wedding. They put together an amazing set list that appealed to all generations, we are still hearing rave reviews from all of our guests at how fun and memorable it was. In addition to being the most talented musicians and setting the perfect tone to start the celebration, Eden Lane was extremely professional, punctual and totally self-sufficient. We absolutely recommend them, and hope to see them play again very soon.
Response from Eden Lane Jazz Band:
You guys are amazing! Thank you. :)
Everything we expected and more! The music, the horns, the singing, the presentation and especially the quality was superb!
This review is a bit overdue - our wedding was December 8, 2017 - but, as we keep receiving compliments for the music gig we had at 3 West Club in Manhattan, we have to pay tribute to Eden Lane. We were looking for a jazz style, eventually found out that’s its called post modern jukebox, and Eden Lane (which we went to see playing in Brooklyn one night) was exact combination we dreamt of! Stephanie, the vocalist, is a phenomenal professional, sweet, talented and very patient. We worked together figuring out a playlist of our favorite songs ...and I (the bride) even got to sing one song with the band! I was flattered, what a privilege!
They created an unforgettable Manhattan atmosphere during the Christmas holidays, with old and contemporary songs, reinterpreted in jazz style; an intime and classy night that all our guests will always remember. We also were able to dance a tango, which they rehearsed for us along with other tracks. Eden Lane really made our dream come true. Their performance on our wedding night will be in our memories forever. More than highly recommended! Bravo everyone!!!
Eden Lane came to play at our intimate wedding at the Harvard Club. They were incredible. They have very high quality gear. Stephanie has the most amazing voice and they just know how to do everything to make the night perfect. (Intuiting songs, background music during toasts, you name it.) They arrived hours early to be safe and needed absolutely no direction ... just came in like they’ve known us for years and just set up and played. We can’t wait for our next special occasion so we can have them play again!
We hired Eden lane for our October 14, 2017 wedding! It was truly the best part to our wedding! All of our guests commented on how amazing there sound was, that it wasn't overpowering and they could still talk to people, and yet sometimes they didn't want to talk to other people so they could hear Stephanie and the band. Their style on how they dressed and sounded totally fit our theme too! I had many conversations back and forth with Stephanie and Dylan, who also played our ceremony, and always had a quick response. They were both very accommodating with being able to play songs in their repertoire as well as song requests we had. The process was so easy that I wish I could plan another big event to have them play. Eden Lane was exactly everything that we were looking and hoping for in a band and so much more. Thank you for being amazing and being a huge part of our big day!
We so enjoyed Eden Lane last year that we re-hired them again for our 2017 WWII reunion. Their selection of songs was first class and Stephanie’s sultry voice can’t be beat (she was accompanied by an extremely competent guitarist and upright bass player for our gig). One veteran commented that he thought they were even better than ever, and everyone agreed that the addition of tight three part harmonies was a nice touch.
Not only do they provide wonderful entertainment, but Stephanie and her group are some of the nicest down to earth people you'll ever meet or hire. We give them 5 plus stars and are looking forward to having them back next year.
Can’t say enough! Highly recommended!
Response from Eden Lane Jazz Band:
You are the sweetest for taking the time to write this and post photos! We seriously had the best time reuniting with you all this year, and feel so lucky to be a part of such a special little group. Cannot wait to see you (and Margie & Jim & Tony, etc.) again next fall. xoxox
We hired Eden Lane as a Quintet for our July 2017 wedding. Everything was organized through their vocalist Stephanie. She was extremely accommodating, professional and friendly. On the day of the wedding, the band arrived early to set up. All song requests were fulfilled masterfully and their own repertoire was impressive and extensive. The vocals were exceptional and the instrumental accompaniment was perfect. This band really has style. They look great and sound even better. All guests, from age 80 to 3 years old were entertained....most were dancing (the band actually can trick your guests into thinking they have rhythm). We received so many compliments on the band, my favorite being that "they don't overpower you with their volume like many bands do....they lure you in and make you want to listen to them because they're that good." During the few breaks they took, they had a great playlist playing (you were almost grateful for the few breaks b/c it gave you a minute to focus on your guests instead of the great music!)
If you're looking for a jazz band and they're available, book them before someone else gets them for your date!
I highly recommend this band. Super nice individuals with tremendous talent!! Very accommodating
Stephanie and the boys were a perfect touch for our 250 guest " Kiss of Summer" yearly cocktail party. We were so luck to find them and look forward to having them back next year.
Response from Eden Lane Jazz Band:
Thank you so much for taking the time to write this! We could not have asked for a more beautiful setting to play music at, and we can't wait till next time! We're so happy you happened to find us here on Gigsalad. :)
Amazing!!
We hired Eden Lane to play our outdoor cocktail hour. They added such class to the beginning of our reception! I personally did not get much of a chance to listen to them play, but I heard over and over again by guests that they were wonderful !! The band was so talented and kind-- I would recommend them to anyone! My only regret is not hiring them to play for longer :) THANK YOU!!
Response from Eden Lane Jazz Band:
Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a lovely review, Pam! We had the best time playing at your beautiful, beautiful wedding. Thanks a million for letting us help to make it special.
So easy to work with and they were perfect for our cocktail hour. I can't wait to see them play again!
Response from Eden Lane Jazz Band:
Thanks for taking the time to write this. We had a blast! <3
Our experience was great from the start, when I was personally began corresponding with Stephanie about a reunion we were throwing for a group of WWII veterans and their families. I could tell right away that she was a class act and very sweet person. She informed me that she had a soft spot in her heart for veterans, since her grandfather was also a WWII veteran, so she was thrilled to be able to entertain us.
The event was a complete success and our group fell in love with the band. Not only were they top-notch performers (Stef has a voice of gold), but truly charming people. We even invited them to dine with us that evening, so were able to chat with them after the gig.
We asked to come back next year - that says it all!
Response from Eden Lane Jazz Band:
Thank you for your wonderful comments, Marion! We feel SO honored to have helped make the reunion even more special than it already was. :)
They sounded so good and they were so pleasant to work with :)they were the band I picked for my vintage themed wedding and it just went perfectly together. Super thankful to you and your band. Thank you so so much !!!
We hired Eden Lane to perform at our 25th wedding anniversary party, and we are so pleased! They were were timely and professional. Their sound was exciting and all our guests raved about their music! Even the venue managers praised their performance.
Not only did they accommodate our requests, they even learned and performed a new song for us. We unreservedly recommend Eden Lane for your next event.
Response from Eden Lane Jazz Band:
Thank you so much, Suzanne and Peter! We so appreciate you taking the time to write such a lovely review!
Fantastic music and energy, the perfect accompaniment to the evening, really kept the conversations lively and electricity in the air. Perfect.
I heard Stephanie Layton sing at Caffe Vivaldi in West Village for the first time last summer. I like listening to jazz for a limited amount of time because I enjoy classical music more than any other genre. But this was one of the rare occasions that I wanted to stay there all night and listen to Ms.Layton sing with her band.
Then when we needed jazz for a fundraiser theater production by an organization that works for ending violence against women and girls, she was the first person that came to our mind because once you hear her sing it’s really hard to get that warm and charming voice out of your mind. When she came to rehearsals she immediately charmed the whole cast and crew. The performances were even better, audience members couldn’t hold themselves and shouted asking for her name even though it was in all the program booklets and in all announcements.
I am a concert pianist who has played on stages from Lincoln Center to the big concert halls in Europe. I learned a thing or two about audiences and their expectations throughout my career for 15 years and I can assure you that when Ms. Layton starts singing your audience will be mesmerized and feel like time has stopped.
The other interesting aspect of working with Ms. Layton is her personality. One may think that a talent like this may be unpredictable and capricious but on the contrary she is surprisingly easy to work with. On the top of all these wonderful professional qualities, Ms. Layton also charms the audiences with her beautiful and graceful appearance. It was such a pleasant experience to meet Stephanie Layton and work with her.
We booked Eden Lane to play our wedding and it made the day absolutely perfect. All of our guests could not stop raving about them! First of all, I love jazz and I love live music. I had to find the perfect group to become the soundtrack of my wedding. Eden Lane exceeded all expectations. The lead singer has a voice like velvet, the band was on point, and the whole sound felt like I was being transported back in time. They worked with my husband and I to create our ideal set list, happily agreed to play our special request songs, and were incredibly organized. With all of the crazy details that go into planning a wedding, I never had to worry about the band because I knew they were on top of it. I truly could not be happier. THANK YOU, EDEN LANE!!!!!!
We hired Eden Lane for a private cocktail party we hosted for clients and they MADE the whole night. Stephanie Layton has a beautiful voice and the band's music selection was perfect. They played a lot of old classics as well as some new ones I hadn't heard before. (Now new favorites!) Their whole performance was really engaging - there were a couple of numbers that were cute and quirky and had everyone laughing. All around, they made for a super fun, charming and very classy evening.
Eden Lane sang for my father's cocktail/birthday party that I put together for him. He has a love for 30's/40's style jazz, and I knew that having Eden Lane at the party would be the perfect fit. They took my party from fun to WOW WOW WOW! The lead singer has that perfect gorgeous smooth tone reminiscent of all the jazz greats, and their song selection was just wonderful. A few of my favorites, and a few new ones that are now some of my NEW favorites! I couldn't have been more pleased. They are truly outstanding, and I hope to see them perform again soon.
What a great treat, listening to Eden Lane perform. These professionals know how to engage an audience and really sell a song. From fun and cute ditties, to American Song Book, to bluesy torch songs that could rip out your heart, they did it all perfectly and beautifully. Book them today, you won't be sorry.

Eden Lane is a jazz band with an affinity for The Great American Songbook, classic film noir, and the wit and glamour of a bygone era. Anchored by redheaded songbird Stephanie Layton, our sets include a combination of fresh takes on famous tunes and rare gems from deep in the vintage vault. Recent appearances include Charlotte Tilbury Beauty’s “Hollywood Collection” launch, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon’s farewell banquet, The American Federation of Arts Fall Gala, events for S’well Bottle, ARRI Rental, Third Rail Productions’ upcoming Macallan Speakeasy, and numerous weddings and parties at premiere venues all over New York and its surrounding areas. We were also recently honored to be featured in (link hidden)’s article “The State of Jazz in NYC.”
*A Few Other Things About Us*
1. We are a small group of musician friends who love playing together and feel blessed to be making our livings in the arts. We are not a “factory wedding band” with a giant roster of musicians who have never met each other before the gig.
2. We are 100% on top of communication - ask any of our past clients! You’ll never worry that we’ve “disappeared” or that details won’t be taken care of, and we are happy to work with you as much (or as little) as desired to curate your dream musical experience.
3. We can play quietly, and are perfectly suited for both intimate events and larger celebrations where music is intended to be a focus. We tailor our sound to fit the space, and we care as much about sound level and vibe as you do!
4. In addition to sounding great, we look like a million bucks (in our humble opinions)! We dress to impress, and whether it’s flower vines on the mic stands for your Enchanted Garden party or fabulous finger waves and bow ties for your Great Gatsby bash, we love adding special details when your event calls for it.
We’d love to hear from you if you think Eden Lane might be perfect for an upcoming event! If it’s something public (that we can invite people to), we’re definitely open to discussing a discounted rate. Cheers, and happy planning!
We have the ability to provide our own sound equipment for events of various sizes (we have a lovely P.A. for large spaces), and we tailor our setup based on the size of the room and expectations of the host. All we usually need is access to an electrical outlet, and a chair or two.
When playing for over an hour, the band will plan to take short set breaks based on the duration of the gig. We are happy to time out our breaks so that they coordinate well with specific schedule plans, and we always make sure that a playlist is playing through the P.A. so that the music doesn't stop. If you would like to choose the playlist, that's fine too - just share it with us via Spotify.
