Ian Stuart (Comedian)

I've seen Ian Stuart several times and hosted him at one of our events — he always puts on a great show. He's got a good mix of really funny jokes, does great crowd work and just has a strong, memorable presence. When he organizes a show, he always brings in a great group of local comedians. They killed it up here in Rockland a few years ago and the crowd was really enthusiastic. He definitely has done a lot to revive the local comedy scene and our faith that local comedians can actually be funny! He's also written and acted in various Temp Tales cartoon episodes, which are worth checking out. Highly recommended!

I hired Ian multiple times to not just host and perform but to actually schedule and hire comedians for a National morning show broadcast our radio stations hosted. All events were flawless. He had tremendous communication with me, knew who he wanted to hire to fit the event and, oh by the way, was an amazing as the host/headliner. The planning, communication and execution was outstanding. Everything you could ever ask for. .

I am a longtime regional comedian and booker of many rooms that presented professional stand-up comedians regularly and I've booked Ian Stuart on many different occasions. I've always referred to Ian as a comedy swiss army knife; he's able to perform in any situation in any role that I'd need. Hosting, featuring, or headlining, club work, theater work, clean shows, not so clean shows, corporate events, or private parties, if I booked Ian there I knew the client would be satisfied and that he'd be a professional in every sense of the word, showing up on time, respecting the venue and its expectations, and then getting onstage and delivering the goods. Sometimes being funny (which he is, fantastically funny actually) isn't enough. Sometimes a show or event requires adaptability, being able to work a crowd or go with something that has happened spontaneously and make it fit seamlessly into the set. Even on the national level, I don't think there is a comic working today that is better at that than Ian. In lesser hands it's merely a skill, in his, it's an artform. Looking back at the list of the hundreds of comics and the hundreds of shows that I have produced, if I were to pick one comic that to stake my booking reputation on, one comic that I needed to blow a room away to win a bet, a comic I knew would be reviewed favorably by both the ticket buyers and the venue staff alike, it would be Ian Stuart. I promise, you won't be disappointed.

I would recommend Ian Stuart to anyone looking to book a truly professional comedian for your event. Ian played a show for me in Lincoln, Maine and it was a big success. As an event coordinator for the town, I try to have at least one comedy show a year. Comedy can be hit or miss in our small, somewhat conservative town, but Ian has great awareness and instincts. He can read his audience. I think being able to play to a crowd in a small town in Maine is much more challenging than a bigger market show. He left our audience in stitches and people still stop me at the grocery store to ask when he is coming back up for another show. I am planning on having him come back up to perform in my town again very soon. He is reliable, professional and easy to work with. His comedy is relatable and there is just something about him that people of all ages are drawn too. He shows up prepared and makes stand up comedy, which is incredibly difficult, look effortless. I have also been lucky to see Ian in Portland at the State Theater in front of a sold out audience and also a few times in Bangor and East Millinocket. Ian is versatile and is very bookable. Do yourself and your audiences a favor and get him for a show. You won't be disappointed.
