The James Pitts Band performs traditional blues, soul blues, funk blues, and blues rock. James Pitts is an award winning artist who has had the opportunity to open for or perform with such acts as: Eric Gales, Chris Duarte, Popa Chubby, Little Milton, Tinsley Ellis, Amanda Fish, Pat Travers, Luther Guitar Junior Johnson, actor-comedian Bill Murray, and more. The goal of the James Pitts band is to get people dancing and having fun. And they get a lot of audience participation to create memorable moments people will remember.
I was thoroughly impressed by the James Pitts Band's live show. Their music is engaging, their performance is dynamic, and James's guitar work is simply stunning.
This band is a lot of fun. They are not your typical blues band playing shuffles, they have a great song selection that really makes you want to dance.
The James Pitts Band is an exciting, energetic group of musicians with a powerful lead guitarist that I would describe as "a cross between Stevie Ray Vaughn and B.B. King." They have a great selection of covers and original songs that get people out onto the dance floor and keep them there! They had some great audience participation stuff they did that put the audience in control of a songs tempo. The louder the audience would yell, the faster the band would play, then while it's going extremely fast James kicked into this crazy guitar solo at the high speed.. It was a great time, and a great performance.
I highly recommend the James Pitts Band.

James Pitts is more than a musician; he's a force of nature on the blues-rock scene. With a career spanning decades and a passion for storytelling through music, Pitts has earned a reputation as a captivating performer.
Early Years and Influences
Born and raised in Massachusetts, Pitts was drawn to music from an early age, but didn't start playing guitar until his late teens. Influenced by legends like Stevie Ray Vaughan, Albert Collins, and BB King, he picked up the guitar and began honing his craft. Their soulful melodies and electrifying performances ignited something within him, setting him on his musical path.
The Journey Begins
Pitts' journey as a professional musician kicked off in 2008, when he burst onto the scene with his distinctive blend of soul blues, funk blues, and traditional blues. His live performances became legendary, captivating audiences with his virtuosic guitar playing and raw, emotive vocals.
Playing with His Heroes
Throughout his career, Pitts has been fortunate enough to have the opportunity to open for or perform with some of his heroes, such as Pat Travers, Eric Gales, Chris Duarte, Brian Howe, Little Milton, actor-comedian Bill Murray, Luther Guitar Jr Johnson, and many more. James also played guitar for former Bobby Blue Bland guitarist Ray Drew off and on for a number of years before Ray passed away.
Influence and Impact
Pitts' influence extends beyond the stage; his music speaks to the universal human experience, touching hearts and souls with its raw honesty and emotional depth. Songs like "Misery" and "Let's Talk" delve into themes of struggle, love, and redemption, resonating with listeners on a profound level.
The Road to Recovery
In 2021, Pitts faced a setback when a back injury forced him to step away from performing. But true to his resilient spirit, he embarked on a journey of healing and self-discovery, emerging stronger and more determined than ever to share his music with the world.
The Return
Now, in 2024, Pitts is back and ready to reclaim his rightful place in the spotlight. With a new album in the works and a renewed sense of purpose, he's poised to once again electrify audiences with his soul-stirring music and unforgettable live performances.

The James Pitts band pulls inspiration from many, many acts, and even from life. James could hear a bird chirp, a car horn, or a church bell and you might just hear him play it in a song on his guitar.
