Deborah and Ismail have compiled this extensive repertoire from many genres and cultures to tantalize their audiences with sumptuous vocals and thrilling musicianship.

Deborah and Ismail perform as a duo but also work regularly with talented, professional musicians and can augment their performance with the inclusion of various instrumentalists.
Bios:
Ismail Butera is an accordionist renown for his expressive, lyrical style of playing. He has performed and recorded extensively, and in the world of Klezmer music he worked with Andy Statman, Yale Strom, Metropolitan Klezmer and the Klezmatics, among others. Ismail is sought after in the New York area as an accompanist to vocalists of many musical genres, and he regularly performs at concerts and recitals as well as at social events and gatherings.
Deborah Karpel has written performed a solo theater piece with music, “Songs My Mother Never Taught Me” in venues throughout the U.S. and at the Recklinghausen Theater Festival in Germany where the Recklinghausen Zeitung hailed her as a “wonderfully varied, charismatic, and magnificent singer with a heartrending voice”. She is a frequent recitalist at the Bruno Walter Auditorium at New York’s Lincoln Center Library of the Performing arts, has toured throughout the U.S. and Europe as the lead vocalist for the Klezmer bands, Metropolitan Klezmer and Isle of Klezbos. Deborah has released two CDs: “Songs My Mother Never Taught Me” and “La Promessa”.
