“A musical Swiss Army Knife.”
The songs of the country rock outfit, Memphis Kee, have been compared to this little red and silver device. And like the iconic multi-tool, they’ve got something that works for every situation.
The Austin area band has been making a name for themselves for the last few years. During their live shows, they pull from a diverse catalogue of high energy honky-tonkers, classic stories of love and loss, and even gritty old-school murder ballads. Memphis Kee tends to have the crowd listening to every thoughtfully placed word being sung over the groove of what they lovingly refer to as, “Shred Dirt” music. That is country rock that has been battered in the scarlet soil of the pioneers of the Red Dirt music scene (Boland, Canada, Turnpike, Reckless, etc) then deep fried in the Blues Rock soul of Memphis, TN.
Singer and founder, Memphis Kee draws on the influence of songwriters like Hayes Carll, Robert Earl Keen, and Evan Felker to spark visceral, relatable reactions from listeners. Sometimes it’s a nod. Sometimes it’s a tear. Sometimes a hearty laugh.
The 2019 EP, “6th & San Jacinto” continues to gain traction even after 2 years. But what fans are most excited about is the upcoming trip to Yellow Dog Studios in Wimberley in late February 2022. The band will be staying on-site for a week to work on the band’s first full-length release. Produced by the talented and accomplished Adam Odor, the goal is a 10-song record, once again spanning the full spectrum of the human experience. 2022 will be a big year.

If PA is provided, it will need adequate power and subwoofers for the crowd expected to attend. MK prefers the use of their IEM instead of stage monitors for full band shows. If PA is provided, a sound engineer will be needed.
If the performance is in the dark or at night, adequate stage lighting will be required. For using stand-based lights, a minimum of 2 stands with 4 lights is recommended.
