Bring warmth and intimacy to elevate your special event with Parlor Lights, a trio of accomplished musicians that perform songs based on:
- original compositions and arrangements,
- familiar classical melodies (unique, yet reminiscent),
- and early 20th century standards.
Serving Eastern Wisconsin, we are available to enrich the ambience of your occasion, such as wedding receptions, holiday parties, company outings, family celebrations, and community events.
I have been familiar with Tom’s compositions and arrangements for a long time, and as someone who has been lucky enough to perform with him, I knew that I wanted his music to be a part of our wedding.
Tom arranged three pieces for us, included an original work, traditional songs, and songs that had personal significance to my husband and I. It was a meaningful experience to get to be a part of creating the music for our own wedding by sitting with Tom and talking about what we were looking for.
Tom’s arrangements capitalize on the nostalgia and emotional connection one already has with a piece of work while making it, at the same time, feel personal and new. Our pieces, along with his other creations, show an insight for what makes music powerful. They highlight stories of connection, family, and contain a reverence for powers unseen.
Tom, Andrew, and Mary provided the most amazing music for our outdoor wedding ceremony! We got so many compliments on the music as it wasn't your traditional Canon in D that you hear at every wedding. Tom helped us hand pick songs that really spoke to the personality of the groom, bridal party, and bride as each set walked down the wedding aisle. We appreciated the personal touches this added to our wedding ceremony and the musicians were so genuine making sure our day was the best, they performed so well! I cannot recommend them enough for your special gathering!
“Tom Palof arranged/composed some music for my wedding prelude. Using what he knew of us as a couple, he put together not just music that enhanced the day, but added to personal connection we felt for each other. I received vast compliments on the music and it helped my husband and I emotionally prepare for the ceremony. I have a recording of the music and often listen to it. It feels so special and intimate to us that day. It was a gift I will cherish forever. Tom’s experience and adaptability make him the prefect performer. Not only does he play with excellence but with passion. Cannot recommend enough!”

About Us:
Before streaming, CDs, tapes, or albums, a common way to enjoy music was to make it in the home (i.e. the parlor), resulting in a festive live performance. This authenticity was the inspiration for Parlor Lights, to personalize, enrich, and make more memorable the experience for you and your guests.
Parlor Lights consists of a variety of musicians and instrument combinations to deliver a trio for your event, including violin, cello, trumpet, clarinet, and piano.
About the Musicians:
Mary Navis - Violinist
Starting from the Suzuki method at age three to serving four years as concertmaster for the UW-Oshkosh Orchestra and twenty years as Principal 2nd Violinist for Sheboygan Symphony Orchestra, Mary has been playing violin most of her life. Studying under Joan Rooney and Klara Bahcall before opening her own private teaching studio, she has performed with Cooley String Quartet, Sheboygan Symphony String Quartet, & Jubilate.
She truly enjoys playing for weddings and has over thirty-five years of ceremony experience (visit Mary’s website Classical Touch). Fun fact - she has played at Christmas Midnight Mass in her church every year since she was eight except two years when she had newborn children.
Andrew Piehl - Cellist
Andrew received his bachelor’s degree in music at UW-Eau Claire. Since then, he has performed in different capacities from playing with multiple orchestras including Hub City, Manitowoc, and Green Bay Civic Symphonies, to solo gigging and even playing with a bluegrass band. He currently teaches elementary music and string lessons at the Manitowoc High School as well as at Holy Family Conservatory.
Tom Palof - Pianist - Founder of Parlor Lights
Greatly influenced from a wide array of artists including Bach, Aaron Copland, George Winston, Eric Whitacre, & Coldplay, Tom has a driving passion for composition and arrangements for choirs, ensembles, & indie projects.
Tom was a founding member of the group Spanglemaker, a Midwest original band in the mid-90s/early 2000s once deemed Milwaukee’s best unsigned band, cutting five CDs and opening for acts like Fiona Apple and Pat Benatar. He has also led clinics with the Lakeland University choir to perform his original choral works.
He is inspired to create piano, choral, indie, and ensemble compositions that takes one out of their routine and allows for the subtle joy and serenity in life to surface. Visit (link hidden) for more works by Tom.
