Aiken Del Aguila is a talented and versatile musician whose life has been deeply intertwined with the arts. Growing up in Lima, Peru, he was introduced to music early on, first picking up the guitar and piano at age 6. His passion for music expanded at age 10 when he discovered the trumpet, which would later become his primary instrument. Aiken's early years of musical development were marked by his involvement with the Richard Brand Band at San Antonio Marianistas School. His dedication and rapid improvement led him to perform the trumpet solo "Cerezo Rosa" at age 11, igniting his desire to pursue the trumpet professionally.
At age 15, Aiken and his family moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where he continued his musical journey. He earned his Bachelor in Music in Orchestral Trumpet Performance from Georgia State University, where he played with the GSU Wind Orchestra Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, Symphonic Wind Ensemble, and Jazz Combo. Beyond his university studies, Aiken further honed his craft by participating in prestigious programs such as the Rafael Méndez Brass Institute, the California Orchestra Academy, and the Varna International program in Italy. His competitive spirit has also driven him to participate in the National Trumpet Competition and perform at events like the Trumpet Festival of the Southeast, the Georgia Music Educators Association Conference, and the Christmas Series at the Georgia Aquarium.
Now 22, Aiken is a respected performer and educator in the Atlanta area. He regularly performs with the Mexican band Fiskales de Tierra Caliente and occasionally collaborates with the Odyssey Brass Quintet and the Picantino duet with his piano partner. Alongside his performance career, Aiken is a dedicated teacher, offering trumpet and piano lessons at several schools, including the Lawrenceville-Suwannee School of Music, the Atlanta Music Project, and Music & Arts East Cobb.
Aiken’s multifaceted career as both a performer and teacher, combined with his rich background in music, has established him as a promising figure in the world of brass performance and music education.
