The Smoke Rings play music from the '30's and 40's with wit and style. An extraordinarily elegant band, they perform regularly at The Standard Hotel in New York City in the fabled Boom Boom Room, as well as corporate events and weddings across the country. The perfect complement to a glass of champagne or a fizzy cocktail, The Smoke Rings will add unforgettable sophistication and style to your special event.
Arrived in time -- music was perfect backdrop to a synagogue fundraising gala dinner.
We requested ukulele themed music for 2.5 hours. They sent a wonderful singer who plays ukulele and a bassist. It music was divine. Thanks for the entertainment.
Response from The Smoke Rings:
Thank you so much, Charles! It was a pleasure to perform for your event! All the best for the holiday season and the coming year!
The Smoke Rings were great! Not only did they work with our budget and timeline but they were also totally reliable. They showed up at the event on or before time. They set up quickly, they performed an excellent show and picked the perfect songs for the mood and energy of the crowd. I would definitely recommend them for a party!
The Smoke Rings performed at a garden party my wife and I held at the Bartlett Arboretum in Stamford, CT on August 17, 2013. We, and our guests, couldn't have been more pleased with them. From start to finish Alex Levin and the entire band were a pleasure to work with and we would have no reservations booking them again for future engagements. It was a true top rate experience.
Sarah King and the Smoke rings provided the music for our wedding ceremony and cocktail hour. Their style and musicianship were a perfect match for our vision of our wedding. All of the members of the band are personable and professional and were open to our vision and requests. When Sarah began singing during the processional, many of the guests later commented that they thought they were listening to a recording, until they noticed Sarah off to the side crooning into her vintage mic standing next to the stand-up bass player. During the cocktail hour, the song selection and "vibe" of the music fell right in line with the retro-jazz atmosphere we had hoped for, and the song selection was ideal. We have now been married for a month and our guests are still commenting on how impressed they were with Sarah King and the Smoke Rings. We plan to see them perform in the city as much as possible as this will bring fond memories of how they helped to make our wedding an amazing one! I would highly recommend Sarah King and the Smoke Rings for any event or occasion.
My wife and I have been in contact with The Smoke Rings over the past year discussing our wedding which had a vintage theme. Let me just say that my wife and I typically have high expectations and this band far surpassed them. This is a group of truly talented professionals who absolutely love playing music with each other. Almost everyone at the wedding asked us who the band was.
Alex (the pianist) coordinated the performance with us and he is one of the most outgoing and understanding people I've worked with. The stress of the wedding was easily alleviated because the band knew where to be and what to play at all times, making it easier for everyone to relax and enjoy the evening.
In addition, our wedding was in Nantucket, MA, which is a 6 hour road trip from New York City. But the band was more than willing to make the trip and at a very reasonable price too. Overall, The Smoke Rings put on a top-notch performance at a great price after traveling all day to be there. We are so lucky to have found them and I'm sure we will get together the next time we're in NYC. I couldn't imagine hiring any other band for future events!
Sarah and her band put on an awesome show in Bethlehem this past Saturday night! If you get a chance I highly recommend seeing this band.
What an awesome evening at Musikfest. Way beyond my expectations, Sarah is nieve, yet sultry with the voice of an angel. It takes a certain restraint to play jazz just right and they perfected it!
This past week I hired Sarah King and the Smoke Rings to play at a celebration in honor of my good friend, Bishop Paul Sanchez, who was ordained a bishop of the Roman Catholic Church. It was the best decision I made in trying to make the celebration special. They were the talk of the party and everyone was buzzing about how spectacular they were. I can only offer them the highest praise. They were a PLEASURE to deal with and I would HIGHLY recomend them.

'Sarah and the Smoke Rings' opened our event and their jazzy upbeat performance set the tone for the rest of the evening. Ms King has a sweet, sassy tone that floats over the rich textures of the trio's serious jazz chops. The combo made the evening swing.
This past Saturday evening we were treated to a live performance of Sarah King and The Smoke Rings in Bordentown, New Jersey, and we were not "bored" for one moment. The venue was casual with an eclectic audience that only added to the overall "charm" of the experience.
The vocal and musical performances were stellar with just enough improvisation which high-lighted the tuneful songs and lyrics, rather than distracted. The light-hearted humor of the group allowed for intimate audience participation and laughter. It was enchanting to hear someone as youthful as Sarah to take command of the great melodies and lyrics of Standards that we all know and have heard all of our lives. Add to that the amazing piano of Alex Levin and the great bass and one had a recipe for total immersion in the best musical genre that just washed over me.
A Must See!
The Montauk Club was delighted with the performance by Sarah King and the Smoke Rings! The style of the music was a perfect fit for our lounge and our members couldn't have been more pleased. The Club is a late 19th century structure and the Smoke Rings' early to mid 20th century style made for a lovely and lively evening. Sarah herself couldn't have been more adorable with her ukulele - fabulous vocals, and sweet blue gown - and band mate Alex Levin was a delight and extra helpful in producing the evening's performance. We hope to have them again, often!
The Montauk Club, a private club in Brooklyn, New York, engaged Sarah King and the Smoke Rings to perform for our new member night, based on a member's introduction. We did not know what to expect, but they were terrific! They set the perfect tone for our event -- energetic and engaging, yet somehow subdued enough not to draw attention away from the business at hand of orienting new club members to the club. They were able to strike the perfect balance of playing music that you wanted to stop and listen to, because it was so good, but that did not demand that you stop what you were doing and listen. Everyone who heard them that night was impressed and delighted by their performance. And that Sarah: what a voice! We highly recommend Sarah King and her band -- in fact, we are actively trying to get them back for additional dates at our club.

Audiences everywhere are falling in love with Sarah King. Her stellar vocals evoke an earlier analog era, when music played from gramophones and tabletop radios. Our clients find us to be responsive, flexible, tasteful and professional. The music is a joy to listen to, whether during cocktail hour or for dancing.
The Smoke Rings evoke the '30's and '40's with their elegant sense of swing, hip arrangements, and, most importantly, love of The American Songbook. The Smoke Rings's style is unique but rooted in the jazz tradition. Gorgeous vocals are enhanced through the subtly swinging accompaniment of Alex Levin on piano and Ben Cliness on upright bass. Upon request, the core trio expands to a quartet with the addition of drums. A quintet or sextet, featuring sax/clarinet, trumpet, and/or guitar, is available as well.
The Smoke Rings carry liability insurance. Upon request (and for a nominal fee), the band can provide a large PA system for big parties and events.
