Everyone loves the panflute; pure, simple and calm, the sound of the panflute brings wonderful memories and images back to people. An instrument everyone recognizes, but seldom gets to hear.
I do not drive, and so I play my panflutes while I walk and while I wait for my bus. They are made of bamboo and so are very tough: I play them in all seasons, under all weather conditions (even winter). I have had thousands of compliments from people over the years.
I have played for charitable events, artist's openings, for seniors, funerals and many other. I love to play for people & I have been playing panflutes for nearly 30 years.
I prefer local Gigs; am possibly willing to travel.
We had several comments from our guests about how the emcee-big of our program wasnt very good. We hired glen as a ghost emcee, he was unprepared, he couldn't follow the program based on the script and my coordinator had to sit beside him the whole time otherwise, he was missing the cues to time out the announcements. Thankfully my coordinator was on the ball the whole time.
Response from The Wandering Minstrel:
Hello Kris,
I am very sorry that your guests were unhappy with my emceeing. It was my very first time as an emcee and I felt that I tried my best, but I obviously need to improve a lot. I wish someone had let me know at the time of the event that I was not performing well and I would have done my best to fix things. I did receive some positive comments myself from some of the guests, so I hope that not everyone was unhappy.
My regrets again to have not been the best emcee I could have been on the day of your wedding.

I will show up on time, attired appropriately for the event in question and perform my gig. :-)
I know a lot of music in a variety of genres though I am strongest in Scottish-Irish/Celtic music, 'oldies' and sacred music. I improvise extensively and have no trouble adapting my improvisations to the mood of the event at the time. I can occasionally take requests.
I love to play for people and I do not have stage fright or trouble performing in front of crowds; I am friendly and approachable as a musician and well-used to talking to people and answering questions. (Since I play while I walk and wait for my bus I have had hundreds and thousands of compliments, questions and comments from strangers over the years.) My playing is widely enjoyed at social gatherings of all sorts; the sound can be heard above the conversation but does not interfere with the conversation. I usually do not require amplification, and I am able to stroll about an event to share the music around. Children in particular get a kick out of watching me play, as the panflute is a somewhat exotic instrument locally (and mine are very impressive looking).
I've been playing the panflutes for almost 30 years and am strongest in Scottish/Irish (Celtic) music, as well as also playing a fair amount of Sacred music, 'oldies' and assorted folk music from various cultures.
I have been playing the piano for over 40 years, starting out as a Classical musian, broadening into Ragtime, modern, ambient and other musical styles as an adult. I have a number of compositions of my own which I play often and which people enjoy.
I am a bass-baritone singer, mostly older music and also sing in a choir. (Rainbow Harmony Project.)
I am a member of Toastmasters and have experience in public speaking.
Panflutes are a portable instrument and may be played fairly loudly if needed or desired, so amplification is rarely needed and I can usually play in any space that is large enough for me to stand or sit in.
Echoey spaces and rooms with hard walls and ceilings are best acoustically for the panflutes; the worst sort of space would be a small, heavily carpeted room.
I play the panflutes from memory most of the time & do not have any special lighting requirements.

I do not have a set list, but I know hundreds of songs and improvise readily. (*If desired I can make a set list, but usually find one unnecessary.) I generally tailor my performances to the prevailing mood of my audiences while I am playing.
A typical 'set' will contain a number of Scottish/Irish/Celtic folks songs, both fast & slow, as well as some sacred music (mostly spirituals), some older pop music (no top 40), folk music from various cultures, and lots of improvisations. I can learn new pieces fairly quickly if needed or desired for the occasion in question; usually a few days enough.
None needed in most cases.
