Electricity and lot of passionate music.
The greatest underdog story! Tru Def is a minimalist and an opportunist. He has laser tunnel vision on his dreams and won’t be stopped until he reaches the big stage.
Tru Def is from Dallas, Texas. He grew up in a town called Pleasant Grove where it’s pretty tough to find the motivation that Tru Def has. When he was the age of 6, his dad took him to a studio and put a microphone in his hand and told him to rap.
Fast-forward to college, the “LMAO” mixtape and several singles including a noteworthy “Rack City” Freestyle that made the cut on Dallas – Ft. Worth radio station K104. Tru Def found himself walking the streets in New York City to do something no one in his family had done before – obtain his degree. Admittedly, he said “I’m not doing this for me, I’m doing this for my family and to see a smile on my grandmother’s face – that’s it”. Tru Def found himself in New York City attending Manhattanville College.
In 2012 Tru arrived with back to Dallas Texas with a degree; he dropped the project “Forever” that featured hit songs “Only God Knows”, “Forever” and“Where You Think You Going”. He had a vengeance about him and Tru started to become the person he is today.
2013 was a great year – he cofounded a company, clothing line and found himself booked for shows in Dallas, which is a very tough market to break into.
Today Tru knows exactly what he wants and won’t budge until he gets it. He wants a few things actually – he wants fame, he wants the big stage, he wants to inspire people to only pursue their dreams and not someone else’s and he wants to take care of his loved ones. Given the sacrifice it takes to be legendary, he deems himself as the person for the job. The album “Crown” wraps everything up in a bow and includes a note on top that says, “I’m coming to take my spot and I’ll prove to you everyday that I deserve it”. The album “Crown” is only the beginning of his mayhem; you will see more of him in the future.
Lighting and props are important in my performances.
