Hollywood Rex is theatrical 80's experience in both sound and presentation. We have our "own" sound which we infuse into all your favorite KLOS/KROQ type hits as well as some very cool b-side gems. We also have a unique Disco set and take requests for current hits. It's all based around keeping the dance floor hoppin'!
The band consists of Eddie Ayala (lead vox/guitar), Shelly Ayala (lead vox, keyboards), Bill Bartleson (drums), Steve Stephens (bass) and Jim Pinto (guitar).
Professional equipment and performance make you feel like you wandered into Gazzari's, The Whiskey a Go-Go or the Troubador in Hollywood somewhere around 1985!

Our actual experience in playing the Hollywood scene back in the 80's insures a believable experience.
What makes us different from other 80's or tributes? We have our own sound and style and we put that spin on evrything we cover...it's more energetic and original. We never try to soumd like a Juke Box! :) (we also do not play to backing tracks)...what you see is what you hear.
Although Hollywood Rex is a new project, it is a culmination of over 30 years of musical and performing experience. Experience ranges from original music composition, studio enginering and production, live sound engineering/mixing and above all ....performance.
The band members are all down to earth....we don't think we are rock stars...we just emulate them! :)

Core members of this group played the Hollywood scene in the 80's as "original" acts...meaning we wrote our own music. We would play songs like "Last Train to Clarksville" (The Monkees) and put our sound to it...I remember seeing Van Halen play "Won't get fooled again" (The Who) and it sounded like Van Halen....we live by this premise.
